That settles it! I'm getting my hands on a couple right away!

I just got a SS360-2 Shaft from Bob. I am impressed.

I have a first generation. It is a very well made product that hits great. I would love to see what the changes are for the gen 2.

I would also love to see how a smaller diameter one plays. I went with 12.5mm and a 1/2" ferrule. The deflection was a bit high for what I'm used to, but boy did it hit and feel nice! I bet the 11.75 would have been perfect.

His shafts, like most, are a compromise of traditional feel and absolute low-deflection.
If you want the lowest deflection possible get a Pred Z-shaft, maybe there are others but it's a good start (with a hard tip).
If you want something in between get BD's 360 or Predator 314.
The 360 feels slightly more traditional than the 314. I have both.

Since there is no such thing as a shaft that has absolute zero deflection I figure I may as well have the greatest feel of them all and shoot with a traditional shaft.
After going a full circle on those shafts I'm back where I started and simply love traditional shafts.
Ain't nuttn like it. AND you don't have to always order a new LD shaft every time you buy a new cue and completely ruin the feel and balance the cue maker had in mind.

Plus, this way if I drop into a pool hall, or friend's house, I can also always pick a cue of the rack and shoot a decent game.

Agreed. A LD shaft would probably benefit my game, but for so many reasons, I prefer a standard maple shaft. It gives me the feel I want. If I hit it bad, I know it before the miss, or the blown position. I do prefer shorter ferrules, but I use aegis. Not LD at all.

I shoot with a Pechauer LD shaft and it is the closest LD shaft that I have found that feels like a hard maple shaft. I have tried a lot of LD shafts but not even close to all of them but Pechauer is the closest I have found yet. I also hear the Mezz LD shafts shoot like a hard maple.

Ss360/2

The SS360/2 is one of the best LD shafts out there , together with CEM's LD shaft .
And i tried almost all of them ! The Pechauser LD i haven't tried yet .

Couldn't agree more.
Of the LDs the Pechauer is a top shaft. Possibly the top.
Pechauer makes good stuff in general.
I also think their jump cue is simply the best on the market.

I can't agree more with you sir! Their jump cue is the best I have come across but I haven't had a chance to try a Alex Brix jump cue. I hear they are pretty top notch.

I have both and for me the Pechauer jumps much better.
I use the Brick exclusively as a break cue and the Pech as a Jumper. It is the perfect combination.
Besides I like having a dedicated jump cue it does what it's designed to do and it does it perfectly.
It's NOT trying to kill two birds with one stone.
One breaker and one jumper....works perfectly.
Anything else is a compromise.......yes......for me it is. hahaha
Those two things, jumping and breaking, are so different that I'm not surprised it works much better with two separate cues, each designed to do just one thing. I've never been a good jumper so I can use all the help I can get. Jumping is usually my absolute last resort. I'd rather go bank to bank first.....
That's a long way of saying I agree with the Pechauer ads about using dedicated cues. :)

I played with a 314 for about 5 years and then a 314-2. For the last 3 years or so I've been playing with a traditional shaft and I like the natural feel of it

I've been playing with the Mezz WD-700 for 6 months and it feels really good to me, but it is not as low deflection as the original OB-1 shaft I had which was the same diameter (12.75) I have not bitten the bullet and tried a 12mm or smaller shaft, I guess that is next. It is kind of weird I've resisted it since I came over from England where I was playing with a 9mm snooker cue!

Bob does great work! I still have on of the first lamenated shafts he ever made on my break cue and it is awesome!
