Bob Ogburn funeral details

Does anyone out there know? I will be grateful. Thanks in advance AZB
There are several mentions on Google. I think it is sweet irony that the name of the town he passed away in and will be remember is Brunswick.

Thank you that’s very helpful. Unfortunately there aren’t any service details that I can find on there. Still holding out hope someone knows the when and where and I haven’t already missed it.

This man played a large role in my formative years, just wanna be there and pay my respect.

Richard Jay Wideman on Facebook may have more current info. They were good friends, and he arranged for Bob to be moved out of the hospital to a hospice so that he did not suffer.

Sometimes there is no wake or funeral if someone is cremated. There may be a memorial service down the road, however. I am not sure if Bob has any relatives living. Keith McCready talked to him almost every day when he was in the hospital, and he said Bob did not mention family. He said Bob told him he's ready to "ace-deuce," as he was in pain with the leukemia. It is heartwarming to read the nice words written about Bob Ogburn.

You mention Keith spoke to Bob regular, how long had he been sick?

He did not know he had leukemia until he was in the hospital, about 2 weeks before he passed. Keith said his voice was getting more challenging to hear. He knew Bob was in a lot of pain.

Sad to hear. My Dad passed from Leukemia. It's definitely a terrible thing.

I called the funeral home and is sounded like there were no arrangements. In fact it sounded like he was still there unclaimed. Does anyone know anything more?

I had the exact same experience. They said they would call me if anything changed but haven’t heard back. It’s been a few days now.

Was hoping to report something actionable.

I will contact a couple close friends of Bob's and see what I can find out. If I find out any news, I will update this thread.

It is sad when pool players pass and there is no immediate family making arrangements. I'm not sure if money is the reason why he hasn't been taken care of.

I'm soured on GoFundMe accounts because one never know if the donations are going for the cause they advertise. Not sure I'll ever donate to a GoFundMe again because of that. You think you're helping somebody out for a worthy cause, and you learn later that the funds then are spent on other things, not the worthy cause advertised.

I know Bob was a veteran, so there may be some assistance that can be had there for proper burial.

I thought Jay W. was handling the arrangements.

I can tell everyone, from personal experience when the deceased wishes are to be 'Cremated' a 'Blood' relative has to sign off on it.

A friend of 50 years and I were in Tulsa in 2006 doing some gambling.

On a Friday we went to play Golf with a cart, we're on the 14th hole, both are balls are on the green.

I start to get out of the cart and say to Chuck, "Aren't you going to putt out?" He says, "No, not feeling too good."

He was driving the cart, I come back to the cart. He's flopped over on the passenger seat. I grab him to set him up and move into the D seat, He looks up at me and dies within 5 seconds.

Long story, shorter! He always wanted to be cremated and buried next to his wife.

The Funeral home would not cremate him until a 'Blood' relative would give the OK

His Only living 'Blood' relative was His Son, who was in prison in MN.

It was a big ordeal with me and the Warden his Som on the phone with a lawyer.

Finally, after 3 weeks I went back to Tulsa to get his ashes.

Bob, may be in the same situation, not sure.

Georgia has strict rules about this. You're right. Mark Haddad's children went through something similar to get his body flown from Georgia to California. Georgia would not release the body to Mark's girlfriend. It had to be a blood relative.

I just called the funeral home and I got some information. He's been cremated and apparently somebody came forward whether a family member whoever and they took possession of ashes and it's a done deal. So Big Bob has completed his journey.
