Bobby Pickle is looking for action in Cookeville,TN

"i thought archer and pickle played at the cue and broke even??????"

No, they broke even on the first two sets (no weight) and played a third set tie breaker which Johnny won.

Regards,
Jim

my point was that pickle has a lot of heart to play archer .....and he is a really good player capable of beating anyone outta cash on any given day imo

Sounds like a pool room full of broke pool players.

Seemed like a reasonable post in a very logical place (billiards forum). Didn't ask for weight or offer to give weight, just wanted to gamble on a pool contest. Was that an improper post? Bobby probably knows more than most where he is in the pecking order of pool players and would give an appropriate spot to whoever needed one and asked for it and would want an appropriate spot from those who should give him one. There would be some players in that category but it wouldn't be a large crowd. What is interesting to me is why a post like this becomes controversial. What is more interesting to me is last weekend at Diamond Billiards during Shannon Daulton's tournament Bobby was on the microphone trying to get 6 players for their winner take all ring game which had a $200 entry and in a room full of far above average players to top pros (all gamblers?) only 5 would enter. When Bobby announced he was willing to pay half of their entry still no one came forward. Yet, I seldom go to a tournament where known players (gamblers) aren't complaining about there not being any action or no one wants gamble. Now here is a sincere post soliciting action and it gets criticized. In the next day or so there will be another post asking what's wrong with pool.
I was there. I know that most of the players there have matched up numerious times with each other in the past. Bobby is wanting some action.
I talked to the stake horse and there is a hand full of players that they will want the 8 from. I'm not getting in who they are but everybody has action if they simply call and work it out ahead of time. This place was a hot bed for action all last winter and I am looking foward to it getting cranked back up.

I don't want to kill bobby's action so I'll just agree with you that he's not that good.

(-:

I'll agree ... sure, Hennessee and Vita should give Bobby weight. I think I might scrounge up some money if that weight was reasonable.

I just want to throw it out there that Bobby has got action but doesn't want to bet anything. Larry Nevel is offering up the call 8 and Bobby told me himself the most he'll guarantee is $1,000 a set and lock up two sets. Now, if anyone wants to actually bet something on Bobby's end the game will happen.

How much is enough to intrest the Nevel? I have played 25 dollar sets with Nevel. lol ....IMHO... I'm sure 2k for a days work is plenty.

you guys are wasting your time... these posts go nowhere....

once a week there is a post about... "i gotta guy who will play..."

etc...etc...

"I need weight..."

etc... etc....

and fizzle out

its pretty funny though, cause i read them everytime....

Yeah.. Wasn't Larry the one on here a few months ago asking if people would be willing to play very short sets for very small money, etc? At the time, it seemed like Larry was really hard up and looking for a way to keep money coming in. No offense to Larry, of course.. All the American pros are having a tough time right now.

I really doubt Larry would be the one turning down this action. If anything, it might be a stakehorse getting greedy and deciding that he wants to make more than $500-$1000 on the matchup if it goes down.

I was being sarcastic...and I should really BUTT OUT because I don't want to hurt Bobby's action but I just can't resist.

With no disrespect intended, Nick Vita does not play nearly at Bobby's level. He probably needs the 7 ball.

But if you or anyone else disagrees, I'm good for 5 bags in a heads up match...10 ahead...(2 sets) winner breaks...bar boxes...stake ALL posted up front...either Cookeville or JOB's. Will travel for a 10 bag match.

Again NO DISRESPECT to Nick. I've met him a couple of times and think he's a very nice young man...and I'd certainly like to have his speed.

Hennessee and Bobby are "you pick 'em" on bar boxes.

Jim

Seems like I heard (but, it could be my imagination) that B. tried giving N. GODZILLA (the green monster) a while ago and came up short.

I agree that if N got DEEP PURPLE it would be gamblin.

1P would be interesting.........:)

HUH?????????? Do you have ANY IDEA how many dollars of action Bobby has been involved in since he started playing at Cookville? Do you know the maximum stake he played for and against whom?

You can't say that "he doesn't want to bet anything" and then just mention ONE player offering the call 8 which isn't going to change the outcome of more than 1 rack in 20...IF THAT!

Jim

I was just saying he doesn't want to bet anything against Larry. I talked to Bobby myself a couple days ago and he's the one that said only $1,000 a set. If you can get him or his stakehorse or anyone to bet more, let me know and the game will happen.

I got a feeling that if Larry knew you were presuming to turn down action for him, he would find someone else who wanted to back him in that game. I think Larry is the favorite there, and Bobby knows it, but is willing to gamble a little bit.

He's not a fool.

Then again, I'm not even sure you in any way are involved with Larry, so you could just be talking smack to amuse yourself. :D

OK, but that's not what you wrote. In any event a potential $2,000.00 win would, a am fairly sure, not be turned down by Nevel.

The majority of touring pros don't take that much home from a tournament that lasts 4 days.

And WHO WOULD bet a ton agains Nevel? He is deservedly a feared road player.

Jim

I was just wondering what kind of dollar amount from Larry's end are you looking for to make this game happen??? So to speak...i was just curious.

SPOT ON! Nevel can beat anyone on a given day...but so can Bobby. I'm sure Bobby's backer(s) would give it a shot for a couple of bags..

But my GUESS is that if Bobby got the wild 8 then more bags could be posted.

First off, I'm not the one backing him. I'm just trying to get the game setup based on what Larry tells me he's looking for. Larry has a backer. In fact, Larry's backer is stuck to Bobby right now from Bobby playing Tony Watson.

And if you don't think I'm involved with Larry, call him and ask for yourself. There are people on these forums that know me and know Larry and I are friends. I don't need your approval.

I'll talk to Larry today and see how he feels about the wild 8. But either way, they need to bet enough.

Me and Ramil might be in the area next week. Let's see how good he is. I hope he does not beg and cry for a spot. Embarassing for somebody who is looking for action.

We will look him up!!

I wouldnt waste your time. imho They will play 1 or 2 k headsets and thats about it unless somebody is stuck. I understand a person cant hardly afford to travel and then chop up money two or three ways unless you are betting 10k or more. So ask Larry if he wants to stop in sometime when he is in the area. Try and work something out ahead of time but the action is always on Sunday and Weds. night. I think just about anyone can get some cheap 1 or 2 k action.

Sometimes you go trapping and get more than you can handle. I wouldnt under estimate Pickles game on his home court. I know Ramil is a great player but Pickle is too. Should be a good game. IMHO
