Bobcad 23 update

For those who have Bobcad ver. 23 already, there is a new update. It includes the ability to save profiles. What this means is that you can create a profile that has all tool information, speeds and feeds, depth of cut including number of passes, then save for later use. If I had a profile already set up for a 1/32 bit, I would load profile, select artwork, click compute tool path. At this point I can post and save. I could with fininshed drawing post out caode in about 30 seconds. This was a feature that I asked for when I got a real tech on the phone over a month ago.

You will find update here:

Thanks Jim. That is a huge time saver.

By the way, they are called Features. You right click on the Feature Pocket or Feature Profile in the Milling Tree and Save Feature. The next time you want to use it, just right click on Milling Stock and Choose Load Feature. You then just have to reselect your Geometry.

You are correct Tony, I was in a rush this morning. By the way, you should be able to load several of the same features and juust change the angle of the a axis for indexing. Or mix and match with alternating geometries.

Whats the best deal you have negotiated on Bobcad 23 I must catch the wrong salesman they do not seen to want to deal :)

My guess is that if you call them, they won't negotiate as much as they know you want it. Wait until they call you. They will call, they call me a couple times per week. If they're not calling, just download the Demo again and your phone will be ringing off the hook.

I think you can get it for between $400 and $500. Maybe better.

Tony is correct again. You will want to download their software for demo and enter all information correctly so they can contatct you. Best to do this Thur. night. They will deal on Fridays. Tell them that this is just a hobby of yours and you are not a real buisness and can't justify their cost. When they go to make a deal you want Bobcad 23 with at least two seats, bobart, and training cd set. If training cd set not yet available then take the ones for ver. 22 they will get you there. You should be able to get all of this for under $500 shipped.

Good luck. Jim.

Will DO thanks guys I guess it was my fault downloaded demo and put incorrect phone did not want to be bothered will give them good number this time

I don't think they have the concept of "seats" any more. You can install it on as many computers as you want, but only the one with the dongle can generate G-code. I also don't think they are doing training CDs any more. Version 23 has context sensative help and videos built in.

Mr. H, when I refer to seats I mean dongles. You are correct that I can use dongle on any system that ver. 23 is loaded on. Good luck with Vista users. By the way, I should point out that any drawing saved with out the dongle can't be loaded when dongle is used. You will not be able to generate code no matter what without the dongle. As far as context sensative what ever, they can stick it you know where. The training cds are the way to go unless you know how to use their system. It would be helpful in generating the tool paths. I did happen to get a video on a axis simulanious from them. I can't remember if I posted a link. I think I did send the link to Tony Z.

Oh well, you should see the prong I just made with using the a axis. NO picutres now buy maybe latter of finished Q.

Jim.

It works fine with Vista. Just need to do a few things to set it up.

One thing I found when playing with it the other day is I no longer need to do fillets on my points. It can cut them automatically without drawing them in.

Tony, could you elaberate on this. Also was wondering how you liked being able to save and load features. It will be great to have pocket set up with 1/32 bit and then profile with 1/64 all with a few key clicks.

Jim.
