Bonus Ball Week 2

This may surprise some of you who post on this forum.

I watched half of Thursdays match. There we a few freeze ups of the stream, and one rules violation by Archer (read the rule book Johnny), but overall I thought it went quite well.

While I have not been a proponent of Bonus Ball and I still think it will be difficult for a league to be developed under the current structure it was entertaining for the half that I watched last night.

I know that this has been discussed in other threads, but here a few things that I think can improve Bonus Ball.

1. 30 second shot clock is a must.
2. Do away with the girls standing in the corners looking bored.
(I wonder what the over/under is on one of them dropping a ball on the table and messing up the balls.)
3. Bonus ball should have something like the Measle ball to identify it more easily.
4. Leave the pockets as they are. These are some of the best players in the world. I am sure that they will adjust to the tighter pockets.

So there you have my take on what has gone on so far.

Bonus Ball week 2

I tried to watch last night and feel good about the game...but I just could not sit there and watch it. There's something missing and I don't know what it is, but to me, It was very boring and I was hoping for it to be more exciting, it's almost like watching paint dry for me...just my personal Feelings

I just gave my opinion on the second week of Bonus Ball, and it didn't work for me. Maybe if they would let the stream on a loop of match play might help and get more exposure. I also think that the 9 PM east coast time slot hurts it also,

I find it funny that there are still those who offer their opinions on this wonderful game. One poster says in INCREASE the shot clock time. What? You want to SLOW the pace? That's not good for ANY game.
Also, get rid of the girls? Hey, sex sells, get over it. Another poster says he feels good about it, but thinks watching it is like watching paint dry. Contradiction?
Folks, let the first season finish and let's do away with all the suggestions, tips, gripes, perspectives, and others. These guys KNOW what they're doing, and while some things will be adjusted 'on the fly' others will require short-term analysis.

Let's just watch the matches and see how things get better. Please remember, this game is not for US, it is for EVERYONE, so although YOU might think something doesn't 'work' it is there for a reason. This game WILL bring exposure. Let it run it's course for crying out loud!

Green rep to you for sticking up for them. I do think the BB crew welcomes constructive criticism, though, so some of the comments are best for them to hear now, as long as they are well-intentioned.

I also wish they'd get something easier to see for the bonus ball, it's really hard to pick out at times, even with HD.

I also don't understand why they need two ball girls, but whatever the reason, I'm sure glad they do.;)

those girls provide no sex appeal at all. they are standing there looking like they have no clue what is going on. Jonny made a ball in the wrong pocket and she started clapping, lol. If what you want is sex appeal but them in bikinis and get hotter girls. The girls leaving will not hurt anything.

I disagree I spent a vast majority of my time trying to decide which one of them I liked better...I still have not decided so I have to watch again.

The amateurs play with 6 pockets, so no continuation shot, break out rules are different etc etc etc... the game is simple for amateurs to learn and great to play

Boogeyman..

Improvement in any game comes from player and fan involvement. If the players like the game and the fans don't you have a problem. If the fans like the game and the players don't, ditto.

I am sure that Nathan may have came up with this game on his own or maybe a friend or two.

But I will bet you he has had plenty of input from close friends and players and that the original idea of Bonus Ball and what they are using now has changed.

Sex may sell to some. Most likely to the ones who don't get any. :rolleyes:

I wouldn't mind getting a jersey, they may be highly collectable. Not sure why they have numbers on their backs, the name alone is sufficient.

They girls well...they may grow into the position someday...definately room for improvement:wink:.

Boogeyman, someone made a good suggestion to raise the camera on the full table shot so the girls aren't cut off at the waist on a cam shot they use a lot.

Nathan made the adjustment and it's much better now. They can take or leave any suggestions.

I agree, I don't think there is anything wrong with the girls. I think during the first season BB will listen to and be open minded to fine tune their production.

This game is starting to grow on me.The big runs are fun and there is potential for depth in strategy.

There are some things to work out for sure.

Has any room owner set up a BB table yet?I wouldn't mind trying it,but I don't think the amateur version would interest me although I am no top shot.
 
For those that don't like the girls as part of the show, what if after every 20+ point run one of them takes something off? And if that same player that had the 20+ run fails to score at least 5 points in their next turn, they put something back on.

Would you like it better?

I actually find the game somewhat interesting, but I'm not all the way sold that it will succeed...but what the heck, I hope it does. The only thing that doesn't sit right with me is that it will be taking players away from existing "big" events. Maybe it can't be helped but I hope that's not the case moving forward if the game is a success.

I have a set and scoreboard on the big screen at my house. I live 8 minutes from Stixx n Stones. It's really fun.
 
I can't wait for tonights match ups already> I certainly won't be watching Tar and the run-out feast! I love the Bonus Balll action but mostly the format that they are using! Nathan is a genious for developing it!
