Bonus ball was a great game for hardcore players, I really enjoyed watching it. On the other hand the effort from bussiness point of view was doomed from the very start, you need to get the attention of average Joe to succeed and for that the game was too complicated.
Now look at World Pool Series, Daz did many things the right way - he chose 8ball which is the best known game among general public, made some small changes to the rules to make the game more interesting, implemented shootout which is great idea and keeps people on the edge of their seats and started to colaborate with Unilad which gets large viewership which in turn brings sponsors. For example take Chris Melling runout - it has almost 6mil. views which is amazing for pool vid
We will see if WPS gets 2nd season and what the payouts will be
