Was wondering if anyone could recommend a book or website that can get me started on playing the carom games.

I have a new place to play close to home so I want to study the game.

Byrnes Standard Book of Pool and Billiards
Byrnes Advanced Book
Hoppe "Billiards as it Should be Played"
Little Joe's DVD on Cue Ball Control and the Kicking DVD
Walt Harris's books "The Billiard Atlas" Volume 1 thru 4 http://www.billiardsatlas.com/

This should keep you busy for a while. Also try to find someone who already knows and ask them to teach you.
Read the latest USBA Newsletter. Lots of benefits joining for only $36. This edition has a review of one of the DVD's

Just to add a few....

CaromCafe's home page has a simple yet very elegant flash animation. It has been there for a few years, but I always enjoy going back there to see the great animation work.

CaromTV has some of the best videos for 3 Cushion. Jan even put out some free ones for people to enjoy:

At CueTable Library, we have started a place called "Carom Cafe" intended for 3-Cushion shot discussions using 3cCueTable

Couple of old threads on the subject. Plus the old "should you start by playing the small games?" arguments!

this is a pirated version of a Spanish billiard systems book, shhh.

The short angle system that Jim Shovak has on the USBA site is good.

LOL, going back to memory lane. I sure missed those times! :)

Say eze123, I have a confession to make: Carom IS MY GAME. I enjoy them all! From small games to 3 Cushion! And there's definately no complaining about that. For those reading this post, I definately encourage you to get into this game ASAP with knowlege from any carom billiard sourse (I have the Byrne's New Standard... Billiards and I am very satisfied about reading and learning about it).
