Booking rooms 4 DCC! Please help!

drive

The drive from Casino to New Albany is like 7 or 8 minutes and their is two nice motels
rite their. I think one is the Hampton Inn and the other is the Best Western.

So it wouldn't be a 30 min drive each way like you said in other post, I understand ur frustration but this is ur best opinion if you want to come.
Also I wouldn't dout once ur their that a room will open at the Casino if u check every morning you'll probably get one. Good luck and I hope you and ur father are able to
make it.

I have done it before and with the walk to the car plus the drive out of the compound and the walk to the room at the best western it is roughly 30 minutes! Each way! I wish it was only 7 minutes door to door .

wow

I have drove that road 100 times or more over the years and I will bet you it's no where near that bad of a drive. My brother work at the Horseshoe for 4 years so we both have drove it many times.
I'm not telling you a lie just thought I give u little help.

Even if you where staying at the Horseshoe it's a good 5min or more walk from your room to tournament room.

Moet. ,

It is a nice little drive MOST of the time. I have been on that road late at night 🌃 and it is not very well lit and hard to see at night 🌃 ! So, I drive a lot slower!

The weather was bad with snow and freezing rain ☔ the years I went and down trees. We barely made it out of town and caught the last flight ✈ out for days. The hotel and casino ran out of food that year!

Add time ⏰ for the 5 minute walk mentioned by you above and a few minutes to drive to the main road from around back and add a few minutes to park and walk 🚶 to your room.

At night 🌃 it is a little longer commute and in bad weather it is not great.

But, you are correct. It is not bad during the middle of the day with good weather! On those days I could make it in 8 minutes if I don't catch the lights and speed a little.

Is the Rustic Frog still going strong?

thank you Lou!

I can live with it being sold out! But, it never fails when I get there MAGICALLY rooms are available. Just needed to talk with the right person.

I am not hopeful given that you spoke unsuccessfully with Greg Sullivan. With limited supply, DCC should consider people with medical needs getting some priority or consideration. Just a friendly suggestion. Pops wants to be there and I am trying to make that happen. Not sure how many of these we will get together. So, I try to attend now that I finished school and can.

You know all about the trouble booking a room all too well. I will keep hoping things improve.

KD

KD, this is fact. ALL Caesar's properties keep a bank of rooms for their 7 Star members that are available free of charge anytime - caveat they must request 48 hours. Those " magical rooms" you speak of are these. Keep in mind, if a 7 star says there coming in your beat.

Maybe Sullivan could say if the hotel sets aside any handicap accessible rooms that people weren't able to book...

Are you trying to be funny???

Pops is a Disabled American Veteran and been one for close to 10 years!

He is functional but walking around on the replaced hip and other health issues are the only reason for reaching out to the community. It is not for me! Those long standing members here know him and his ailments.

I have a call in to the event coordinator and she is working on helping! We spoke yesterday!

His comments on this thread are all negative and nasty!

"you wait till the last moment"

THis comment is pure speculation and several people indicated months of problems!

Then after some one offers help!

It is a wise crack about rooms equipped for disabled people! I never indicate a need for a specially equipped room! I said my Dad's need was based on walking distance and medicine access. A regular equipped room would work fine.

Oddly enough when I spoke with the coordinator someone else named Joe called up and expressed a similar need and she thought I was Joe looking for a room!

Coincidence, I think not! People are funny and not slick.

I am certain he read my post and response! Just didn't think my pops was a disabled American veteran! Just thought some old dude with a bummed hip! He is 100% disabled according to the VA from injuries received during service to his country!

I don't want to dwell on it! But, your post and comments made me mention this stuff above. I think Joe realized I am not some scammer or someone chimed in that it is a legitimate issue and not some scam to get a room.

I don't have a number for Greg Sullivan. I would have gone that route! I figured he is on here enough that this thread would be away to speak with him via private message like I asked in the original post!

I too have tried to book a room for well over a month to no avail. Got a room at BW down the road myself. First year I have not been able to get a room at the DCC. Boo

Did you try to book through the link on the derby city web page? I assume you did cause you mentioned the code but wasn't clear.

I also looked cause I was thinking about bringing my dog, but there are houses in the area available on airbnb. If you get a couple of guys to go in, much much cheaper than any hotel.

I must have got real lucky, KD, I didn't book my room
at the casino until December 16th. 6 night stay and I
didn't really have a hitch, the Derby code was available,
too. Not to gloat, just sayin'.

Best of luck to you and your pops, hopefully it'll work out.

Thanks for the kind words! I have booked for the best western and paid an extra $25 a night 🌃 so I can cancel before January 19th if the management at horseshoe get a vacancy! It was worth it to pay more for the right to cancel my reservation.

Horse shoe thinks it may get some rooms back into inventory as the construction is completed on the hotel renovations.

So, I am hopeful and have a back up plan.

If I were to wager on this right now, my bet is you'll be
staying at the casino. Rooms do come available and
you've made it known to them on several occasions
that you need one. My guess is you'll be taken care of
when one becomes available. Hopefully I'm right.
