i think it's what happens to the edges of MOP when they're cut(since they have a certain amount of "transulency"). notice that what you see is reflective in ALL the MOP inlays and are consistently similiar as to WHERE they are on the inlays.

bad tolerance would show up in a more spotty pattern.

but sometimes the eyes can't see everything. i think jeff should macro these inlays for all to see :):):).

Those are glue lines, that's why cuemakers like to work in ebony, those lines are in every cue. There is no way to fit inlays in with no gap, but that line is so thin that you see the glue because it's not the color of the wood or the inlay, it's not bad work, just something you see in light woods.

The inlays are ivory in the second to right cue not MOP, but Ive seen what you are talking about in other cues. Those glue lines are so minute that you probably wont ever see them. Icon's pics are just high resolution. I dont care if there were glue lines visible throughout the entire cue, Id take it in a heartbeat :)

They are most likely where the lacquer finish has come loose from the edges of the inlays, not glue lines. Lacquer tends to move some especially when the temp/humidity change. Have seen this in some cues and think it's the reason a hard automotive finish should always be used.....just my $0.02.

It just proves to me, without question, that Barry Szamboti is every bit as talented and perfect as his dad was. You are fortunate to own these rare cues.

They are a great family as well. I think you are collecting "the right stuff".

Iam in my 3rd year and as of novebber2004 I shut down a very sucessfull commerical construction company and am doing what i truly love ! Iam by far the most Blessed person I know . the best perk is I can spend time with my beautiful wife and my little boy!!!what more can i ask for? :D

See, one guy gives up construction to sell cues and one guy (me) used cue selling to get my equipment to go into construction. How nice the world works..

They do look fantastic....they are PRIMO cues !!!!!

Funny how someone says they are glue lines. Barry's inlay work in all of these cues is extremely keen....prolly just goes to show you that guy doesn't really know what he's talking about.

I also thought it was funny how one guy thought it was a bad finish job.:):):) BTW Sean you do know they use glue to make cues right??? Also I never said the ability to see them is in any way a defect as some here seem to be implying.
