Who made the cue for you? Where did you buy it?
lol it probably is 9.5... Could have sworn it's 8.5 though. I just know for sure it isn't 10 or greater.
Would be nice if I could get an 11.5 made from ash for it.

Also don't judge a book by it's cover... At least not for this one. It hits sweeeet.
i used to have one of those rileys, a long time ago when i first started playing snooker! a decent starter cue for the price....the only thing i didn't like about it was that they put lacquer on the shaft which made it sticky. i ended up sanding it all off!
i used to play pool with a snooker cue, but quickly abandoned that. pool cue works much better! i have thought about getting a modified snooker cue for pool, a 1/2 jointed ash cue with a bigger tip size and a different ferrule....
if you like that cue, wait til you try a 3/4 custom cue! the difference is like night and day. the ash will be much better grade, nice oil finish (no lacquer!), hand spliced. snooker cues are generally a lot cheaper than pool cues, you can get a great handmade custom for like $200!
I agree with McChen: a nice 3/4 cue is a whole 'nother animal.
I tried one of two Riley house cues at a local pool hall and it seemed decent enough. The 3/4 joint Shark cue I bought from Mike Wooldridge, though, has such a nice feel, though, that it's hard to compare.
In any case I'm sure you'll get quite a lot of service out of a cue that you love from the start. Congrats!

Absolutely, Mike Wooldridge has it going on.
I bought a Shark cue from Mike as well and my game went through the roof overnight. If you want a great cue but don't want to pay up for a Parris then Mike is your man. The 'Air Lock' joint he uses on his 3/4 cues is solid and has a tight tolerance on the thread. This 3/4 plays the same as any 1 piece i've ever used and i'm sure its down to the quality of the joint.
its and old 1 piece cue about 80 years old, used to be a friends grandads, had not butt and was in need of repair, he then got the butt put on by a cuemaker in southport, england.
my friend danny murphy ex pro snooker player(was ranked 104 at the time) used it had a 130+ break 1st frame and was going to switch his cue on the circuit for it, decided against it and i bought it, i was 18 and had just started playing snooker, and within 3 months had a 69 break and within 6 months of using it my first century 109, i say its the cue.
