Bowling alley wood

Update:

I talked with the owner and the floors will not be ripped up for a while. They have extensive renovations including all new floors and new pin setters.

Here's his card and the best contacts are his cell phone and personal email.

I hope things work out well . . . just trying to help great AZers make a connection with a great owner . . . good luck.

I sometimes see cues listed on AZ with "bowling alley shafts"

I don't know if it's a desirable wood to make shafts with, but the bowling alley in my town is dismantling their hard rock maple lanes. I can put you in touch with the owners if you are a cue maker who is interested

Pm me and I'll do the best I can.

Dave

Some say great and others not. Lots of nail holes. They would obviously have to turn out.

Myself, quality maple, for the most part that stood the test of time. I would hope that a person could pick some nice pieces out of the lot.

They demolished one by my house. By the time that I saw it, it was too late. If I had have known, I would have been in like a dirty shirt.

This one was a two floor alley. There would have been tons to pick thru. Instead, they prolly used a wrecking ball on it.

Nice of you to offer anyway. Too far from me otherwise I would take you up on it in a heart beat.

I would take as much as you can. See what you can salvage and see if you can't make a bit for yourself on the deal. You make a bit, some makers get some cheap shaft wood. Everyone be happy.

Thanks for the 411. This might be a good opportunity. The floors are not dismantled and it might be the time to have it done right where someone can choose the best pieces.

Not really in it for myself to make a few $$. I basically know nothing and would not be of any help to anyone . . . just trying to help someone who is trying to get rid of some wood get connected with someone who wants it.

It'll definitely be good for someone. We had a wrecking ball here in town knock a late 1800's type boiler room building that was cut from blue stone. A local found out, came and got tons/tons now at his home for usage somewhere in time. His wife has too see this all the time, but felt his efforts were wise and the stone is gorgeous.
