Bowling alley wood

Update:

I talked with the owner and the floors will not be ripped up for a while. They have extensive renovations including all new floors and new pin setters.

Here's his card and the best contacts are his cell phone and personal email.

I hope things work out well . . . just trying to help great AZers make a connection with a great owner . . . good luck.

I sometimes see cues listed on AZ with "bowling alley shafts"

I don't know if it's a desirable wood to make shafts with, but the bowling alley in my town is dismantling their hard rock maple lanes. I can put you in touch with the owners if you are a cue maker who is interested

Pm me and I'll do the best I can.

Dave

Most of them are crap and not worth the time and energy.

I really know nothing about it. Perhaps before the floors are actually dismantled is the time to have it done correctly and choose the best pieces ???

There is a guy in east Texas that makes beautiful table tops out of it.

Like any bunch of wood, there might be a few good shaft pieces in amongst
the thousands. Not worth the time or expense to go fishing.

I bought a few pieces just to try them out. Not worth the effort to find good pieces. They were not cut for shaft wood to begin with.
