Box/Bridged Points

I was curious if it is possible to do box/bridged points w/veneers into a full-spliced cue? Or is this something best reserved, or only possible, in a short-splice cue?

THANKS LISA (love that name, by the way), I don't get out much, but I've never heard them called that. Maybe I'm wrong, but arn't those recut points, leaving the "box" at the bottom?...JER

In this cue I believe they are recuts, but I have also seen them mitered.

Thanks Dale. I knew it wouldn't come cheap, but was curious if it was possible at all.

Lisa, to answer your question... You can put veneers in full splice cues, this is an example of Mark Bear full splice with veneers. I built a cue from the first example on the home page. I hope this helps, but this is a difficult process on a full splice cue. The cues are 2nd and 3rd down on the page.

I'm sorry but I don't see anything on Bear's website depicting what Lisa's talking about.

I have seen ONE veneered full-splice with "boxed" bottom veneers...and that was on a full-splice tascarella. One of the prettiest cues I've ever laid eyes on, but IIRC the boxed veneers were not as clean and pronounced as the short-spliced White Zeeder is getting. I think it was more just squared off at the bottom splice, and the veneers met where they may...

Gina cues used to make a number of models using that technique.

The boxed/bridged cue here looks like it might be full splice. You never know though.

Ron Haley also makes a fantastic cue using the boxed points. That is what I call them anyways. I love the look of the boxed points. One day I may have a cue(Haley I hope) made like that.

This cue right here will be one of my absolute favs of all time.:D

Nice - FWIW this is a half-splice,
as was Sheldon's electron microscope view of the Philipity

which illustrates what would be so demanding about doing a boxed
full-splice, you would have to retrofit the boxed part after it
was spliced<shuders at the thought>
