keep watching the main page of AZ - the player's meeting was at 8pm and then they were doing the drawing - last year it took hours. Mike Howerton and Jerry Forsyth are on site and I am sure they will be up as soon as they are available to do so.

just got word - 237 players and the brackets should be on the AZ homepage in about an hour (this assuming they are available in 30 minutes as indicated by the tournament directors).

How does this compare with the number of players last year?

for some reason i am thinking they capped it off at 128 in past years, but not sure - someone will confirm or correct i am sure.

nope, i was wrong - last year they had 233 so it is almost the same as last year - 219 in 2006, 256 in 2005.

Is anyone else amazed to see the number so high this year? Especially considering the state of our economy? That's great news that the numbers are good and hopefully ticket sales will be be good also.

I'll be watching from here in the desert via the webcast and enjoying every minute of it.

Yes I'm shocked they got over 200, but I'm happy as I have a horse or 2 going. Johnnyt

Rodney v Harriman right out of the box. Ouch!

Yep! Looks like there's quite a few "out of the box ouches" ......Chohan v Bartrum and Ulrich v Luat are two of the obvious ones.

Watch out for dark horse outsider Uk snooker and uk8ballstyle player Chris Melling if he gets on a roll...........pots them in off the lampshades but patience not always one of his priorities

Is It On A "Need-To-Know" Basis ?

(btw......what's the 'on the clock', match time changed, forfeit rule, mis-deal, dog ate my homework, situation at the U.S. Open)

*I see that Ryan McCreesh pulled Gabe Owen right out of the box.
