Could also be angico, which is what the vast majority of Dufferin house cues are made from. .

I second that proposal.

I've seen/ used a good bit of pau fero/Morado/Bolivian Rosewood. All I've ever
seen tends to be more grayish/brownish than the wood in the pics. The more reddish tint
is very typical of Dufferins, as you said.

And while I'm at it, I have busted the finish off many a Duff over the years. Some of them
have great color and/or figure, why they used a finish that turned all that beautiful exotic
wood into a puke orange blah is beyond me.

I never did understand that, either. To drive that point home, I have actually cannibalized angico from junk Duffs and made some beautiful cues that nobody would ever guess began as a simple house cue.

And that doesn't surprise me even a little bit. :)

Many of them look like they just MUST be some kind of Rosewood.

That is what I was thinking as well. Not completely certain, but I think it's also known as Morado.

Also pau ferro, which is not a true rosewood, but a cousin of the dalbergia family. The wood industry changes the name of woods to make them more saleable, i.e. jack up prices. Bolivian rosewood is the latest name... they jacked the price up about 4x what it was just 6-7 years ago.
