i have a customer that doesnt like his bk2.
i thought it broke ok. anyway he has asked me to put a softer tip on.

any idea's on which tip to put on a bk2 and will i need to replace the ferrule too.

other thought is leave it alone advise the customer that this possibly
is not the way to go.

The Super Pro Water Buffalo would be a good choice.
Keep in mind to retain the Predator warranty you will need to keep the pad and about 1 to 2 MM of the tip on the shaft. You wont need to replace the ferrule.
Just face it off to the above spec and you are good to go.
 
The BK2 comes with a pretty decent phenolic tip which sits on a pad.
The ferrule is LBM. You shouldn't have to touch the ferrule when replacing a tip.
I'd suggest leaving the pad to protect the ferrule.

a nice option too, is removing the phenolic part, and install a samsara leather break tip. That's good alternative.

i didnt know, this is great info on the warranty.
the tip still unsure he wants a medium installed.

The medium tip should not perform as well as a hard tip for generating maximum cue ball speed on the break. A softer tip will absorb some of the energy that would otherwise be propelling the ball down the table. If you can't convince him of that, maybe he'd like an elkmaster. :)
 
I would second the recommendation for the Samsara break tip. I've installed a few and the players immediately notice how much faster the cue ball jumps off the cue when struck, yet they are able to maintain control.

I put a Mad Man break tip on a cue yesterday. He hasn't got it back yet so I can't tell you if he likes it or not. They are leather and hard as a rock.
I'd say pretty much as hard as a phenolic but legal.

I have also used Super Pro for others and people seem to like them just fine.

I'm going to try pressing some Triangles. I have a feeling they might work well too.

i agree any medium is going to be less speed,
a meduim tip isnt the answer in my opinion.
and a step backwards in performance and in the pocket book.

i think its the cue he doesnt like not the tip.
