Break cue recommendation...

Any break cue recommendation OTHER THAN BK Rush and Cuetec

I have the BK Rush and I'm just not happy with it at all. That thing was expensive too, but not my cup of tea.

Just looking to see what else is out there

Well, any other one aside from that one you don't like would be one recommendation LOL, 20 people will give you 15 different things to try.
What exactly do you not like about the Rush? You did not turn into a pro player breaker with it or something? The break cue has way less to do with making balls than a playing cue does. To the point that I don't think it matters one bit what cue you use past not liking the physical feel of it.

I used a BK Rush a bunch of times (my son owns one) and I think it's one of the best out there for balance and hit feel. I would not buy one though for the cost, I break as well with my $250 break/jump cue, and about as well with a house cue.

If anyone said they started to make more balls with one break cue vs another right after switching, I would not really call them a liar but I would question their statistical record keeping hehe ;) It's like your car feeling like it drives better after you wash it.

A break cue or tip may end up giving one a few mph at the top speed vs another, but that does not translate into more balls being made since I don't know anyone, including pro players, that breaks at the top speed any significant amount of time. While more speed may give you a higher % chance of slopping in a ball off a few rails, that is such a small change based on luck that it would be totally negated with an extra 60 minutes of lessons on the break to improve racking quality and hit consistency.

Orange Crush cue if you can find it.
Correct me if I’m wrong but is the orange crush a Mike Gulyassy cue?
I’ve had a MG sledgehammer for around 20 years and never want for anything else.
Years ago I’ve seen many pro players with MG break cues & recently I believe I’ve seen some still in use ( by pros)
As an observation I’ve noticed players going back to wood.

Get the Predator break speed app for you phone. $4.99. Experiment. I think you will find it's all about technique, not about the cue. They are basically all the same. Good Luck.

Lakeman's suggestion of the Predator app is the way to go. Anyway about 12 years ago I bought a Cuetec j/b Graphite #99265 which is a wrapped maple. It's 19 Oz. which matches my player. The tip measures 13.49mm. It works, for me.

But, my breaking improved 300 percent with a Outsville Accu-Rack. Try one It's cheaper than a new cue.

I like my Viking Crush. Its got a phenolic tip I never chalk it is very rare I miscue. Its crushes racks. I scooped it for like $225.00. It came with a jump section that I don't use but that part seems well built also. Joint lock up is tight. No complaints other than I wish it was a pro vs conical taper.

Howdy All;

Just throwin' my two cents in the mix. I went and pieced one together. Found a Dufferin 'Dot' and
had a local cue mechanic make a Break specific shaft for it. He also had to remove the pin from the
old shaft and insert it into the new one. The new shaft came from the old floor from the local Community
Center. 40 year old Oak that had been a dance floor. Put a phenolic ferrule on it and a Talisman BT.
Originally the cue weighed 17 oz. Think it may be 0.2 or 0.3 oz. heavier. I'm very happy with the end result.
Total cost was a whopping $115.00, roughly. Happy as a clam at the end of the sewer pipe with the dinner
bell goin' off. :)

I would be HIGHLY interested in your opinion of the Black Ice shaft. Please post about your exsperience with it if you could.
I bought the black ice shaft and am using it with a Pechauer butt. I love it. The chemical process that makes it black makes the wood more dense and therefore heavier. I took a weight bolt out of the butt and the cue became more forward weighted, which is great for a break cue. It would be money well spent for you, IMHO...

I have the BK Rush+. I'm not impressed and the quick release joint won't stay tight. The main joint should be a radial pin. Try the McDermott Stinger.

Don't want to derail this thread. What did you not like about the BK Rush?? PM is fine if you prefer.....
I have the BK Rush +. The break is nothing special but okay. The jumping however is very accurate. I think replacing the tip would help the break. My biggest complant is the unilock main joint. It gets loose every 2 or 3 breaks. Should be a Radial Pin for the main joint.

The pure x jump break

Its a good cue i use the jump part as my jump cue.
