Break cue recommendations

Mike Gulyassy is renown for his break cues, beginning with the awesome Sledgehammer. You can get a good deal on his new Orange Crush.

I just walked in the door with an Orange Crusher. You can't beat it for the money, that's for sure. I haven't even hit a rack with mine yet, will tonight, though:D

options 4 thru 7

4 - instead of spending the money on a cue put it towards practice time in perfecting a good break

5 - if you finally come to the conclusion that you're not physically coordinated enough to develop a great break, buy a mezz power break II, breaks awesome just using a normal flat hard stroke.

6 - can't make a ball using the mezz power break II? buy a copy of Joe Tuckers racking secrets and memorize it.

7 - tried all this stuff and nothing works? spend the rest of your life playing rotation games like the ghost(where your break doesn't count anyhow, which in my opinion is a better way to play rotation games), or 14.1, one pocket.... they're all better games anyways!

i am a traditionalist when it comes to break cues, that is at least until i had tried Mika's Mezz Powerbreak Cue....this cue is amazing, i have to get me one !!!!

Varney j/b

I have a Varney j/b cue. I also have a Lomax jump cue. Steve is a great guy, but the Varney j/b cue not only breaks well, but I can jump better with it than I can with the Lomax jump cue.

Thanks everyone, you have all been quite helpful. I really appreciate everything in helping me with me decision making. Happy shooting.

Out of the several break cues I have shot with my 2 favorites would be the Predator BK2 and a Varney J/B. Both had some sort of linen phenolic type tip that gives it a great solid feel while allowing you to control the cue ball. My only issue with my Varney is that it was only about 57" long, and I found myself holding it too close to the butt too often. I have seen a couple others that same length for sale so it may be common.

I loved my SledgeHammer. Tonight in league practice I was making 3 and 4 balls on the break.

I had a poison jump break cue for 200 bucks. My dad has a action jump break and when I was comparing breaks and jumps I liked the action way better! I sold my poison and got an 80 dollar action jump break, been extremely happy since!
