I'm using a linen phenolic tip on my break cue but I want to switch to a hard leather tip.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I have a sledghammer. It came with teh phenolic tip. I just asked my local cue repair guy to put a super hard leather tip on it.

He faced the existing phenolic tip flat and then applied some super hard leather tip...

A hard Water Buffalo is great for breaking.

I agree somewhat...I use either my new sledgehammer, or my DZ s/p with a SUMO water buffalo tip on it. SUMO tips are about as hard as you can get without going phenolic IMO

im using a white diamond jubp break tip.breaks like a 10lb hamer.put alot of spin in the cue if you want it but you have to hit as close to center as you can are it will jump off the table. took alittle bit to learn how to use it but i love it now. jeff

good leather break tips i've used are:
tiger j/b
wb brand
sumo

all are very hard and have worked quite well in my experience. i liked the tiger the best, it was the hardest

I've tried lots of tips. I strongly recommend the WB brand "black" water buffalo tip. (There is a black one and a reddish one-the black one is harder). This tip is ideal for someone who hits the ball fairly hard (over 20 mph). I have tried the Talisman xtra hard. This tip is pretty good too, but doesn't give the same feel as the water buffalo. Still, I would recommend it. It has lasted years.

I like the WB tips for a nice leather break tip. I like to cut a lot of their thickness off a good bit and leave em kind of flat.

I haven't had any probs with a flat, thin Moori Hard. Great ball control.
