Break Cue Tip . . .

Superpro...

The laminated waterbuffalo tips by Superpro are great for smashing the rack AND keeping control of whitey! No loss of energy with these trips.

. . . using Ivorine 4 ?

Thoughts ?

Thanks in advance.

I would be checking the cue ball for damage after using an Ivorine 4 tip. Too hard in my opinion.

IV-4 does not hold chalk well and you have alternatives that will do just that. In my opinion, it's less important to obliterate the balls, than it is to squat the rock to give you a higher percentage 1st shot after a nice, hard solid break.

I agree. I just have a rod here and was wondering what would do. Thanks for the input.

I'VE HEARD THAT A CUE ASSEMBLER HERE ON AZ USES IV 4 FOR HIS "SPECIAL" TIPS.

i expirimented with IV4 a couple months ago. as far as not being able to control the cue ball, thats more in your mechanics than it is the cue tip. i personally use it on my break cue, i like it better than phenolics and G-10. it holds chalk like phenolic. needs a scuff or 2 with some sandpaper every now and then. i have been using it for a while, and no damage to the cue ball so far.

Are you using just a 'tip' or a one piece ferrule ?

For anyone interested , I did a 3/4" Ferrule tip combo on a threaded tenon.

So far , it's pretty dang good. Holds chalk pretty well , mostly cause it basically get's impregnated with chalk after a few hits. You hardly need to chalk it each break. And break it does , kinda like two CB's hitting each other. It's like a shot gun going off. :) Yet it will transfer just enough spin to the CB to park it if you hit it square. If not , then it plays much like any typical phenolic.

So I guess I like it and will stick with it for a while. Looks pretty cool too. :)

FWIW ,

Jay.
