I'm looking into getting a nice break cue, but not sure which one. I play a lot of pool, so I'm not looking at a start out cue or anything, but I don't really want to spend much more then $300 or so. Any help or advise would be great. Thanks and have a great Sunday!

I'm looking for a break cue as well. I don't want to spend more than $200 or so... I mean, it's only a break cue, right??

Pat Diveney makes awesome break cues!
He made a jump/break cue for Rodolfo Luat.

I have a Hightower that I bought for I believe like $250 or something from Chris at the SBE. I don't know what they go for new but it hits like a cannon. Everyone who breaks with it is amazed at the hit. And it's a break jump cue.

Here's a nice Break Cue (available as Break Cue or Break-Jump Cue). John Parker of Auerbach Custom Cues makes them for the BreakRAK LLC company.

Any weight over 18.5 >>>> Shaft is 13.5-13.7MM with Buffalo Tip. Bushka rings at A,B,C,D,& E.

Below is an example of the cue. The cocobolo/osage orange series (shown)has been retired. OTHER WOODS are AVAILABLE (your choice), call for a chance to design your own. Only six (6) will ever be made, per wood series.

Cost is $300.00 plus shipping

For the money -- J&J - a great value, Furry with leather wrap under $150 is also a great value. I have sold my $300 jump breaka and have gone with the J&J palm wood, very dense and a great break. $90 vrs $250 ???? no difference in out come ???????????? J&J at $90 evey time for me.

Poison VX2.9

I just bought one of the Poison VX2.9 J/B two weeks ago and it was the best $190 I've spent on a cue. I was going to buy a Predator BK2 but they don't make them in a J/B so I checked into these and tried it and it works great. It comes with their low-deflection "Venom" shaft with a phenolic tip. It's kinda goofy looking with the rubber wrap but Predator Technology for under $200 seems like a good deal to me.

Predator BK2 (no wrap) with their HARD leather tip, not the phenolic tip.

Why spend that much. if you're just looking to get the most bang for your buck get a J&J or a hammerhead.

they're both under a hundo and work great!

Joey,

Nice configuration. I would choose this set up too.

OR you can do this;

Just get a cheap decal cue and a lepro tip.
Place a lepro tip in between old magazine.
Hammer away till it becomes hot and really hard. :grin-square:
Install the tip onto the cue. Tip height should be around 4-5mm.

This work for a friend of mine.
I like it too, as I always use it to break when I am playing with him.
It has a very good cue ball control.

Pete Ohman makes a great jump/break cue. The forearm is a little longer so aiming with it is easier for me. It leaps tall buildings. Typically it runs a little above your budget, but if you find a used one, you will have enough cash. Wait and get an Omen...it will be the last break jump you ever need. try the cueaddicts, they may have one.
