I love my Gilbert but I think you can break just as well with a J&J and a Samsara tip. I just keep the Gilbert because it feels right, love the balance and weight...don't mind spending the money when it's only this much on a cue that just feels "right" even if it's not objectively better.
Can someone define for me how a cue hits a ton. I'd really like to know.
My money is on Omen Custom Cues. You get a ton of cue for the money and I have owned just about every break cue out there. At one time I had an OB, Mezz PB2, and, Omen J/B in my case. I have also tried Gilbert(3), Lomax(3), Pred. BK2...ect.
I found that the Omen and Gilbert also make great playing cues with a tip change.
Tips are as important as what break cue you decide on. I found that for me, Samsara is the right one on whatever cue I use to break. I could not keep the cue ball on the table with the phenolic tips. Again, this is for me and I am sure others out there have just the opposite experience. My point is, decide on which tip works best for your break style.
