who makes the best break/jump cue?and why is that one different than the rest? im looking to buy one and wanted several opinions.slegehammer is in the running so far
This is a question that is asked very often and there is only one answer there is only Good and bad, best doesn't exist except in the mind of each player. The only way to find out what is best for you is to try many different cues until you find what you like. I can give you some information to think about that may make your search easier.
First think what you like in a playing cue, such as, weight, balance, shaft diameter, and length. It is always a good idea to try and find a break cue that has many of the same factors that you like in a playing cue, but you may want to consider making it an at least 1oz lighter than your playing cue. The reason I suggest this is because it is a proven fact that a lighter cue will not only give you more cue ball control on breaks shots by forcing you to rely on your stroke, it will also create more action on the balls.
Another thing to consider is the shaft taper, a 13mm or slightly larger Pro-taper or extended pro-taper will also enhance your results when breaking by decreasing the flexibility of the shaft. I personally do not recommend a shaft that is below 12.75mm because of the enhanced spin created by the flexibility of the shaft.
Last, do not buy a cue because hype or because it is the latest product out there, try and look past all the non-sense and educate your self as much as possible before you buy anything. There are a large number of good Break cues out there, but never forget a cue is nothing more than a tool, the person using it and their ability is what does the job not the tool.
Good Luck with your search.
