In case you want to spend some time building a break helping tool, this is it. This took me 3 versions to get it right. The rack needed to weigh the exact same a full 9-ball rack with all the additional connections. This version has all the balls drilled out and springs inserted inside each ball for a quick expansion and then back to the spot. Hope this helps you. See attachment. Breaking Rack MK 777.jpg

Cool, looks great. How did you connect each ball with a spring? I don't see any plugs or access areas where you would be able to access the spring.

That is a neat project, looks good!

You should post a "how to" including how deep you drilled, how you attached the springs, etc...

How long have you been using this?

Congratulations regardless. It's impressive.

Here is how and where I put the springs. It doesn't expand much but just enough for a more realistic hit. Small metal pins hold in the pins and are held with epoxy.Springs Shown Image.JPG

With the editional static height weight of the springs and tension I suspect you a little on the heavy side. Probably a little heavier than a standard ten ball rack. You should probably remove the back ball. All the same nice project.

I don't know about it being heavier than a standard ten ball rack. He's removed a lot of material through the drilling of the holes through each object ball.

Break rack version

I am ure Bar Table Man did not mean any harm but his picture looks a lot like the BreakRak by Charlie Bond (ceebee on AZB).

Go to his site www.breakrak.com.

His has been around for years and works well. People who will practice with it swear by the results.

This is not an advertisement but I am surprised and a little amazed at the comments so far in this thread.

I don't see the problem here. The design is the similar, but its not like hes trying to sell it. If he was planning to manufacture it for sale, then there would be a problem.

My Version

It is not for sale, nor will it ever be. It was just a project to help me practice.

Also, since the rack will never react exactly like a real rack of balls it only allows you to practice body motion form, not true cue ball control.

This is absolutely brilliant!! I always wanted a break rak but could never afford one, I never thought about making one. well done, I give it two thumbs up and a square head :thumbup::grin-square:
