Previousely I forgot to add 2010 world teams champion title to Darren as well (I only put Karl Boyes) - actually Darren was even the Great Britain team captain, so I included him now...also added Rodney Morris's 2008 World Cup of Pool title with USA team (Rodney & Shane).

Now it should be complete...hopefully...

runoutmedia...always puts out high quality products...can't wait for this to come out..so I can notch it up on my x-mas list.

The camera work is always great and the resolution even better. Would like to see how the audio is going to be delivered without a commentator.

The players were surprisingly good at delivering the content. Rodney, Raj, and Alex are naturals, but Karl and mika really stepped it up and did a great job as well. Mika was especially good, which was shocking given that he was very difficult to work with 3 years ago when I filmed Mastering Pool. Only Darren was really an issue, as he has a stutter that comes up on occasion. We just did more takes, and I'll use the versions where he's more fluent with his speech. All in all everyone did an excellent job. The remaining 7 players have lesser roles, so I put less focus on them.

In all honesty though, the reason why these 6 players are the main focus is actually because I felt they'd be the most camera friendly, and the easiest to work with. All 6 are very easy going, likable in person, and always willing to help.

Im really excited to see this DVD. Runout Media is top of their class when it comes to video, cant wait to see whats next!

lol Dan dan dan. For those of you who aren't aware, Dan helped fund the project, so his opinion is a little biased. :p

Not really, but I may have insider tips and those tips look freaking AWESOME!

Cant wait for it all to get going! Super psyched about the trailer.

Hey Nathan,

I'm interested in pre-ordering this, but I had a few questions about the DVD first:

1) Did the players come up with the script/content or did someone else?
2) The 13 run outs... were the players explaining what they were doing with each shot as they played the game? Or were they just commentating it like the Mika runouts in mastering pool?

These are extremely good questions. Here's your answers:

1) I personally wrote the guidelines to structure the flow and direction of the content. The players then took those loose guidelines, and expanded and elaborated. In other words, there was no script or storyboard. The players conveyed the content to their liking, adding their own methods, systems and knowledge to my rough outline.

2) The players instruct while running out the racks. Not after... but during. They reveal what patterns they rack the balls in, how they intend to pocket balls off the break, then stop and asses the table after the break, offer their thoughts on potential patterns and problems balls, how they intend to solve said problems, and then walk us through shot by shot as they clear the table.

Alright, finally got the 40 hours worth of footage rough cut. Also managed to update the website with some screenshots. Here's a few:

Is the whole thing on a barbox? The concepts might be similar but big table pool is totally different. Like two of the three screen grabs are about the break. Bartable break is night and day different.

You answered the question yourself when you said that the concepts are very similar. The size of the table means almost nothing in context of understanding the break shot, or more specifically, understanding HOW to make adjustments, such as knowing how to drive specific balls high or low, resulting patterns, racking techniques, etc. The concepts are the same regardless of the size of the table.

An example is how to adjust your 10 ball break to make the 2nd ball back in the side, or how to pattern rack for ideal layouts. The knowledge is identical for both size tables. A ball may go higher or lower depending on the size of the table, but the key is knowing how to make the adjustments, and that's what the whole DVD series concentrates on.

Consider it this way. If I made a DVD on kicking, and filmed it on a table that had old cloth, you'd say "the concepts are the same, but new cloth plays different". And you'd be right. But that in no way means the information isn't perfectly valid. The whole idea of advanced pool is understanding the differences and having the knowledge to make the adjustments.

trailer + free box-set winner?

Hi Nathan,

Any idea when will the trailer be ready? I'm really looking forward to watching your DVDs and the trailer would make the remaining waiting time easier :-)

And also I remember you mentioned something regarding announcing your free box-set winner last weekend?

Best Regards,
Mihnea

The trailer should be ready on Thursday. That's a little later than my earlier estimate, but that's because I decided to rough edit the entire DVD before making the trailer, that way I can ensure that everything I'm promising is actually in the box-set. :p

As for the winner of the giveaway, my sidekick Dave is taking care of that. I'll get him to confirm the winner as soon as I get home late tonight. :)
