Break Shaft

I'm about to be ordering another Fury pool cue and I don't want to to break with it since I'm having a Kamuii tip put on it... I also don't really want to buy a breaking cue... So I was thinking about ordering another shaft and putting a phenolic tip or some other hard tip on it and breaking with that shaft since it only takes 2 seconds to switch the shafts... Do you guys think that would work or is it a disaster waiting to happen?

Ok look at this from a dollars and cents standpoint. You're putting a $30 tip and an extra shaft, probably another $60 on a $75 import cue. That's kinda like putting $3k rims and tires on an 87 civic. I had a friend who did the same thing by ordering a predator shaft for a Lucasi a couple of years ago. He essentially owned a stick that the entire worth was the shaft.

You're probably getting robbed by a local dealer if you're buying a Fury. They have no resale value and if you're really sold on a Fury, then look around and you can find them used all day from $50 to $100. They are good sticks for the money but I wouldn't waste money investing in a layered tip and an extra shaft.

If you look around you will find much better deals on cues that are used that will be much better cues in the long run and will hold their resale value should you choose to upgrade.

Either spend a couple of extra dollars on a better cue that is worth putting a more expensive layered tip on or don't worry about the tip and find a cheap used sneaky to break with or just stick with Triangles or Lepro's, break with your Fury and spend that 30 bucks on the next 3 years worth of tip replacements.

well the stick with the kamuii tip is only coming to about $110 and that's with the company putting the tip on for me... Yes I am sold on Fury only because I have used them in the past and the extra shaft is only $40...

My dad had a $600 meucii cue and we both shot better with the fury I had which had a cheap le pro tip on it, so money doesn't really make a difference for a stick if you ask me it's more about how well you shoot with it unless it's from walmart or some other sports store... I've seen guys run rack after rack at a bar with a beyond warped bar cue....

I'm ordering online I found a great site, I ordered Aramith balls from them and received them the next morning at 9AM and the shipping was free... I would never buy from a local dealer even my so called friends try to make double off me, when it comes to selling pool cues or other products...

I did appreciate your input though and thank you for your help...

Using a second shaft for breaking is going to be more trouble than it's worth. $40 bucks for the extra shaft, and probable another 30 or 40 bucks for a phonelic tip.
Go back to your web site and price a Fury jump/break cue. You're almost there already with your extra tip and shaft.
Or, break with a house cue.

I went a head and ordered my Fury with Kamuii black medium tip which came out to $112 with taxes and shipping is free...

I did a little research and seen how phenolic tips are starting to get banned so I just went a head and ordered a 50 cent le pro hard tip... that I will put on an eliminator stick that has a cuetec shaft and use that to break with...

Vegas...Just FYI, there's nothing wrong with breaking with your playing cue. I've been doing it for 40 years with no damage to any of my cues...even the multi-thousand dollar ones.

Yea I have always broke with my regular playing cue but I have a very hard break, so I'm worried about messing up my tip more than the shaft it's self and I don't want to be on the side line shaping it all the time....

And No I'm not changing my break speed because I make the 9-ball in on the break on average 1 out of 4 breaks and some times back to back... My record is 3 in row I actually made it 4 but didn't count it since I scratched....

Some sports craft balls that didn't last long each ball is from a different set from last year 2010... The 5 ball broke within the first month I purchased the balls... On the good note my Aramith balls seem to be holding up okay besides the cue ball it has a nice little chip missing out of it...

WTH?

I don't see the problem with the OP putting a Kamui on his cue. What on earth difference does it make how much the cue is worth - it's his playing cue. He's not asking if he should put a $40 tip on the cue in order to sell it. If he wears out the tip before he sells the cue then he got his money's worth. Even if he doesn't wear it out first but makes some money in a tournament or match, or simply enjoys the game more with the Kamui, it was worth the money. Or are you saying that a Kamui doesn't play better than any dried out and brittle 5¢ tip unless it's on a high end custom cue?

That's quite impressive. You can probably make a fortune teaching just your break! I've seen some darn good players in tournaments where there weren't 5 times someone made it on the snap all day long.

Yea I learned how to do it when I was young.. I seen my Father break from a spot on the table and I noticed he made it a couple times in that day so I picked up from there by just breaking all day long trying different English... I've been working on making the 8-ball but it's a little more difficult keeping the cue ball on the table... My best at making the 8 ball in on the break is 5 times in an hour and a half which I learned from DR. Cue on youtube... But I enjoy playing 9-ball and 10-ball more than I do 8-ball, I think it's because I enjoy the challenge of getting shape on my next ball...

The phenolic mystique is questionable. They require chalking to become a 2nd career.

There are some really hard leather tips.
