Break Shot Approach

Generally a break shot (9-ball) is hit harder than all other shots and the elbow drops and body moves forward. Have you found your approach to the cue ball is along a different line than your normal shot?

Yes, and overpracticing my break caused me some problems with my normal stroke.

When I break, my feet are more inline with the stick as this forces me to move my hips out of the way which gets more of my body's power into the shot, if that makes sense. But I was forgetting to line up more square on my normal shots and was therefore having additional problems with my potting.

I'm thinking of foregoing the hard break shot and just go back to the way I was doing it before. But, damn, hard break shots are so much fun!

Have you looked at Colin's recent thread where he has a video posted demonstrating his successful break shots and exactly how he does them?

Jeff, no I haven't but what I did find is all I did was change my approach a little left or right and therefore corrected the square hit of the head ball. Try it you don't have to change anything except approach the shot different, it's simple and watch whitey, whitey will tell you which way to skew your approach, hope this helps.
