Break Shot Predictions

Ok, up for discussion is one topic that can branch out to many I assume.

I will use 9-Ball as an example because its a decent example. :D

Everyone knows the whole hit em hard and hope something goes, if you find a spot your making balls from, keep breaking from there.

BUT...

Is there a way by studying the rack, looking for mild separations between certain balls, or any other anomalies except the almost non-existent perfect rack, to know where to break from and predict what will go where.

I ask this after watching some old matches where Corey Deuel would inspect the rack closely, pick where to break from and make a corner ball almost everytime. Again, I am not sure if any actual research has ever been done or you would probably see more people looking at the racks before each break.

Any and all thoughts are wanted.

Thanks

Get a copy of Joe Tucker's "Racking Secrets". Also a video camera with slow-mo on it is good to learn where the balls go on a tight rack (like Magic Rack) and a rack with spaces between the balls. Johnnyt

I agree with the above poster. I just got Joe's DVD a couple of weeks ago and it covers allot of the info you are wanting to know. I doubt you will find any better info that is proven.

But as far as knowing where a ball is going to go, it's never 100%.....especially on the break.
