See you there! I will be there doing on-site cue repair and playing in the tournament! I really look forward to coming to Mobile, and sweating some of that good 'ole southern action!

I spent a week in Mobile and played in the first bartable tournament at Breakers. It was great. I ran the bids up in the calcutta by bidding on nearly everyone. In their next events I was a spectator and calcutta bidder, plus putting some money in action on the rail and gambling at one pocket. I'm now expected to pay top gas prices, hotel for a week, meals, money spent drinking & tipping, bidding in the calcutta, putting money in action and a $3.00 door fee. I'll pass. I refuse to pay $3 a day to spend my money. I'm not cheap, it's just a matter of principle (or is it principal)... imo
Doug

Oh, you put your money in the lights and gamble, bid on the calcutta, and you don't wanna pay the measly $3.00 door charge? Sounds to me like you don't really wanna go...

I predicted that I'd get a reply from you, Ted. Keep your opinion to yourself, swine. You're right about one thing though, it's on Aug.7th and I can't make it. I have to wash my hair. Maybe you won't make it either if you'll do me a favor and drop dead.. Doug (hopes Ted gets the attention that he's seeking- there was nothing helpful or constructive about his post, it was clearly a shit stirring troll)

Well, Smorg, I don't know you or Ted so I'm not really taking sides on a personal level but will say that in my almost 60 years of living on this earth I have found that most people that say "I'm not cheap, it's the principle." - yep, they're cheap. :p

And the point of your original post was what...trolling to stir it up? No, not you...Smorgass Boring would never be considered a troll, would he? Or maybe you posted to just show that you are the King-nit! Tell you what Dougie, if you show up, I'll pay the three dollars for you...

Well Ted, despite what you and Pelican have to say, I'm not going to say anything bad about Breakers. I've attended tournaments all over the south and I've never had a better time than I've had in Mobile at Breakers. The drinks are good, the service is good, the equiptment is good and the action is outstanding. It's about 550 miles and a nine hour drive and nothing deters me from making the trip, when I'm ready to go. I've spent a little over $4,000 attending tournaments there and have no complaints. I'm not a nit and I'm not whining, I'm just against having to pay $3.00 a day to spend my money. It's good American money and it spends everywhere. I appreciate your offer to pay my $3 and if I make it, I'll be there for six or seven days. I think $20 will cover it nicely. Thanks...
Now, if Pelican thinks I'm a nit and thinks that things will run more smoothly without my presence, simply speak up and tell me not to come.. imo
I'm very easy to get along with.. Doug

Hey Smorg, I didn't mean to infer that you shouldn't come. Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't let three bucks stop me from participating in something I want to participate it. Kinda like going to a night club that has a cover charge. I might not like to pay the charge but what the hell, if I want to go in the club it's worth it. (Uh, please don't tell my wife I go to night clubs where there is a cover charge - she might get the wrong idea) ;) Anyway, hope you change your mind and come. Ask around for Pelican or Creole. Buy ya a 'cool' one. :D

Well, maybe they screwed up in my recent open heart surgery and have now given me 'a heart like a bb' or maybe my medicines have made me a nit (but i think my feelings would be the same now as before the surgery). I'm not sure about the night club analogy, but to me it's like paying a door charge each time I want to go into a Casino to gamble..
I can understand if you're expecting people that just want to get out of the rain or take up space without spending any money. As bad as I play, I would think they might want to send a cab to Tampa for me... Doug (hell, I lost $1,800 at Breakers playing Jerome Gambino $300 a game one hole getting 20-8.... I SUCK !!!) (I appreciate Ted's offer to pay my daily $3 door charge. I guess that he doesn't have to pay it for himself and he'll probably make $500 a day for week doing cue repair)

Hey Smorg, haven't check this post in a while. Ya know, I think it is primarily a charge to keep the on lookers to a reasonable amount. Otherwise those folks really interested would be having to stand on ech other to see over the gawkers that are just 'curious'. Beside's, I'll shoot ya some one hole (but not no damn 300 a game) and can guarantee I suck worster than you does.

Oh, about casinos, with the recent increase in the price of gas I have found it cheaper to just send the Biloxi Grand a check once a month than to drive over and lose the money :D

I'll be there to spec! I wish i could play but it's been a 3 month battle with my eye doctor and we still can't find contacts to fit my eyes properly :/. My guess is, by then I still wont' have contacts to fit :[. I think i have a stigmatism on my right eye that they overlooked. If they do fix it i'll play though!!!

What is guaranteed about the payouts?? Maybe I am reading it wrong
but if payouts are based on 128 what is guaranteed? To me guaranteed payouts mean no matter how many show. The payouts total to the players
entry. Does it mean that they are gauranteeing the payouts for 128 and
if they actually get 128 players they are going to add the 15%.
Just wondering how its worded.
Nice place though...was there for a couple tournaments
I just wish it was a little easier to watch. Not very much seating

Sorry to say this is why a I and a lot of people wont put their money in promoting tournaments. For all the aggravation and pleasing of peoples principles there just isnt enough money in profit for the grief you get.

Sing it, sister! But please don't let one whiner stop you from workin' wonders!!

You know the saying, 'the squeaky wheel gets taken outside and whacked', or something like that...

Sorry about us humans- much rather share negatives than positives- I am sure there are lots out there who have benefited from your hard work!!
