BREAKING NEWS: IPT Announces 150 Players

All eyes of the Pool World will be on this first (true) competition.

Well, it will be refreshing to see pool played for a respectable amount of money, but I don't know that this would qualify as a "true competition" if it's really true that Sigel is already in the finals and doesn't have to win a match to get there.

How can Alex Pagulayan be left out of this????

I've heard that Alex is very interested in poker and the money that is avialable there these days. Someone recently mentioned that the rumor is he is only going to play in one or two big pool events in North America per year (U.S. Open and possibly the B.C.A). If this is the case, maybe he didn't even apply to the IPT. But, if money is what interests him, I'd think he'd give the IPT a try considering the numbers they're throwing around.

Does anyone think the WPBA will have a problem with the ladies if they decide to go to the IPT events?

I too was wondering this. However, I'm not trying to insinuate anything, but "The Striking Viking" made the IPT cut and I believe she is also the president of the WPBA.

No Jeanette!!! Out of all the other ladies that made it. I wonder if she even applied.

Not to mention a BCA Hall of Famer! :)

Oh, and did I ever mention that Ewa and JAM have the SAME birthday?
Pisces women ROCK! :D

Re: Jimmy M.

Those are my sentiments exactly, for crying out loud they invited Frank Alvarez ( a beginner who can't draw whitey ) to play in the 43 man invitashitall. It's the same old story as before, they do not go off of any sort of ranking system but mainly who knows who, that is because there is no structure in Men's Pool.
Why does a fellow like Tony Crosby who is ranked in the top 16 and is a gentleman both on and off the table not get invited, instead they give his spot to someone who said the right words to Mr. Mike Sigal but is a beginner. You will never hear Danny 'boy' doing any begging it's not my style.
Sincerely, Danny 'boy' Harriman

Spider Woman is recovering from back surgery, so she'll be out of competition for a while...

Well it could be a problem for the WPBA as players could potentially win in a single tournament more than they earn in an entire year on the WPBA tour. If the IPT really takes off top players like like Fisher and Corr could potentially defect altogher from the WPBA. I'm looking forward to seeing them matching up against a mostly male field with enough money on the line to motivate top performances. It is also interesting to see they are both listed as "USA". Have they obtainined US citizenship, or is this just based on country of residence?

Also, what the heck is "Young Taiwan", and why is there only one Taiwanese player in this? (Lin Sheng)

That's funny, who put that fake list up there? Let's see, Montal, Morris, Morris, Murphy, nope, can't be right. No Morton? No Mendoza? C'mon people, don't play with my emotions like that. :D

There are a lot of good players who SHOULD have been on that list who aren't. Where's Alex? Where's Danny Harriman? There might be a legitimate reason that neither of them are on the list while some people are. Who knows? If all of the players who should have gotten in did get in, and there was still room for more, then I'd ask where the hell my name was. Not that I'm the most deserving player of those not on that list, but I can't say that there aren't a number of players on that list that I wouldn't love to play if I had the chance. I realize that they weren't going to be able to please everyone no matter who they chose for the initial 150, but some of their selections make a bit of a mockery out of a tour that is supposed to be a "professional tour". Oh well. The other guys will just have to wait until 2007 and hope this tour is for real and is still going strong at that time.

I guess I'll just have to shoot my way in, huh? I see that field of 150 dropping down to about 50 after the first year with no chance of ever getting back in. Unless they get points for showing up with a heart beat? This list is comical, some of these guys really can't play at all.

There are some interesting names on there but on paper from a marketing point of veiw it looks good. I obviously left it too late or wasn't good enough but as others have mentioned some obvious names missing and a few shockers in it!

For me Tony C obviously stands out when you look at some of the names on the list. One thing though, this will settle the women vs men debate once and for all! (oh no not another "vs" debate!) :D

I want you guys to give me your top 3 names that are NOT on the list ........

Alex P.
Jeanette L.
SIZL :D :D

They obviously picked alot of the names for marketing reasons, but I see no problem with that. Every product has to be marketed strategically. Tiger Woods plays on the PGA tour from week to week with sponsors paying his way. But alot of BIG tournament over seas PAY HIM to come and play in as well as win more $$$$$$$$$. That is marketing in the purest form. Good luck to all of the chosen members as well as the IPT ;)

I agree...I see people like you and Jimmy shooting your way in through a qualifier next year.......The only thing I am worried about is....Will this tour still be a tour next year with the same kind of money????

I sure would hate to see haphazard play from some of the not-so-obvious selections that were made hurt this tour........

Someone doesn't write as good as you?
Both he & I were joking. If someone comes on here & consistently types in bad grammar on purpose, then by all means, throw a flame at them. Not everyone is good at spelling and I see no reason to pick on them for it. Spelling was one of my strong points but math & science were not. I tried as hard as I could to comprehend those subjects and excel in them, to no avail. Just as I'm sure some people tried to excel in Spelling and sometimes just didn't get it. I see no reason to pick on someone because they sometimes make a spelling error. There's quite a few times on here when I'm joking with someone & I use words like "ya'll" or phrases like "them there"...even if I wasn't joking when using them...so what. Not everyone is a genius.

I'm also disappointed that Alex Pagulayan didn't make the list and also for TheOne, but happy that his mate Lee Chenman made it.

Does anyone here KNOW Alex

Between this thread & the King of the hill list thread, all I see is Alex, Alex, Alex.... it's quite possible that he didn't apply. Is there anyone here that can confirm from Alex himself whether he applied or not?!?!?
