BREAKING NEWS: IPT Announces 150 Players

Do you have access to a table with SLOW cloth? We're heading out today to practice in a room which does have a table with SLOW cloth. In these times, they are a rarity!

See you in Atlantic City in several weeks! ;)

JAM
He is recovering their table with the slow nap cloth to be used on the tour so he and the guys can practise.

You think that would be GREAT? Where in the hell are you coming from? These players have been given HOPE, something that is long overdue for those who have dedicated their lives to this game/sport.

I'm giving Kevin Trudeau a standing ovation, a long round of applause, and a whole lot of thanks! :)

JAM

Here, here JAM. I was going to respond to his post but I knew someone would beat me to it.

What an assinine thing to say. If you are a fan of pool and it's players, this is exactly what we need. They will probably never get the contracts of say, baseball players, but it's nice to know they won't be scraping by from tournament to tournament either.

Cheers to Kevin and I hope this thing takes off further than even he imagined.

I have not yet found out the brand of slow cloth that will be used on the IPT Tour, but I'd imagine there are different types of slow-nap cloth.

Years ago, the SLOW cloth was the player's choice in my neck of the woods. The FAST cloth came to the fore, though, and soon every table in the universe had Simonis or FAST cloth on it.

What kind of cloth is he recovering the table with? Just curious. :p

JAM...if you and Keith want you are welcome to come to good 'ol West by God....just across the Potomac from Hagerstown...to play some bar pool with us. The place we play outta has SLOW cloth...as well as crappy balls and a racks...BUT it is one of the best places in the area to play...the atmosphere is nice... and it is still only $0.50 a rack!!! It is bar boxes though. :(

PS...if you hit Jefferson County through Frederick it is even closer!!!

Is it only me who can see that this guy is dodgy I mean trudeau has been convicted of fraud and money laundering not to mention a string of other offences yet he's allowed to run a "pool tour" and I use the phrase loosely, quite frankly I expected a lot more from the people who have been taken in by this scam namely: Earl Strickland, Johnny Archer, Ronnie O'Sullivan and many others.

Personaly I think it will be great when this comes crashing down around their ears and everyone says I told you so after trudeau has been busted for another offence.
No way? Are you serious? He did that? I'm with you on this one dude, all the pool players that are involved should take their dollar back and go buy a lotto ticket and take their chances on that, huh? Whatta jack-off! I'm going to preview this post about 20 times before I hit submit, just to make sure that I'm rude enough to this dumba$$. Yeah, it's only you that sees this, it's only someone LIKE you that would wish something like that!

Hey JAM,

I'm having the table at work, my house, and my cousins house all refelted with the slow cloth. I'm playing as much as I can after work to try and get ready for my first year playing as a pro. I've always wanted to but it was just too tough out there to make a living. I chose the guaranteed money from a job instead and took my extra money to back and stake my friends that were grinding it out on the road or few pro events that they had. I'm very excited and lucky to have made it into the 150 for the first year of the IPT. I'm defiantly not going to take this opperturity for grant it and try to do whatever it takes too stay in the top 100 for the year. I know when this tour takes off it is going to be a grind next year for anyone to try and requlifly if you get knocked out of the top 100. I wish Keith the best of luck at the Skins and on the IPT. I was happy to see he made it into the first 43 player event. See you guys in Atlatic City.

Best of luck Aaron. If by chance you don't remain in the top 100, it certainly won't be from a lack of effort.

Hey JAM,

In the first event they used 21oz Mali non directional cloth. That's what were refelting with right now but it's still not a guarentee they will be using the same cloth or table by the time the 43 player event kicks off.

I must say: I AM EXCITED!

One thing for sure, the IPT Tour does have an international flavor. The first OPEN event will begin in the year 2006, which is depicted on the IPT website.

There is an invitational event happening November 30-December 4, 2005 which will have 43 IPT members, 10 of which are CONFIRMED Hall of Famers.

The total prize purse for EACH upcoming tournament is: $1 MILLION

First place will pay out $200,000.

Wow, it doesn't get any better than this! :D :D :D

Right on!!! Glad to see Keith and Tony Chohan made it on there :-)

There is nothing but SMILES here at the McCready ranch this morning! We still feel like it's a dream come true. :)

BTW, Steve, the "King of the Hill" Shootout in Orlando, November 30-December 4, there will be a MANDATORY players meeting which requires all 150 members to be in attendance. So I may be seeing you before January and looking forward to it, too! ;)

I haven't been to Florida in many years, but what is "Pirates of the Caribbean"? :p

JAM

Pirates of the Caribbean is like the greatest Disney ride ever :). I have a feeling Keith would love it too, lol.

I must say I am confused about the mandatory meeting for the players not involved in the first tournament. Why not just have it a day before the regular event in January begins? Hmmm...

Go Get Um Stevey................

As someone who made the list as a dark horse, I can tell you the above isn't true. I actually feel kinda guilty, making the cut when other, more deserving players didn't. On the other hand, I'm not sure which of them actually completed an application for the tour. I certainly can think of no earthly reason why I'm on the list and not, say, Alex Pagulayan. My only guess would be what some others on the board have been postulating: maybe he never applied.

From a personal standpoint, I have no inside connections with this tour whatsoever. I don't know Mike Sigel or Kevin Trudeau, and I can't imagine either one has ever heard of me. But I did take the application seriously, and filled it out in the most professional manner I could. I distinctly remember making it a point to describe my background in 8-ball and 14.1... maybe this played a role? I don't really know.

Anyway, I plan to make the most of this opportunity and play my heart out. For the first time in a looooong time, I feel I have something worthwhile for which to practice. It is a good feeling.

GO GET UM ALL STEVE, I'M PULLING FOR YOU BABY BOY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's fine, he has the called 8 when we play. We will be playing races to 9 8-ball on the big table though since I have to get ready for this tour.

An eight ball specialist like you? How about you guys just do something cheap like $500 sets races to 9? I am trying to get him straightened out since he has got out. He lost everything he had when he went away (his homes, his bikes, his cars etc.) I just want to put him in the box in a fair game to give him a chance to rebuild his confidance and his game. His game has dropped so much he went from beating champions at 9ball to playing me even in one pocket. How's that for being out of stroke? I am more interested in what we talked about Saturday than you and Dave B playing cheap sets.

Keith is nothing but smiles since he received the good news that he was selected to be a member of the IPT Tour, and so am I. We are both looking forward to this event in Orlando, November 30 through December 4th.

Frankie, come to Resorts in A.C., October 20 through 22, if you can. You'll know where to find us! "Come on, give me a little number now" :D

There are a couple players who got selected who are barely shortstops....does Trudeau want them as cannon fodder or what? It bothers me that Alex Pagulayan is not on that list, nor Wu, Kuo, Chao, Yang, Jeong, and how about the many top Filipino Stars like Alcano or Orcullo?
Who's responsibility was it to fill out the application form? Do you seriously think they would have been turned down had they filled it out?

Yes Kevin, it is the same Austin Murphy.

Austin will be 12 this year. And, I am sure if he plays well, he'll be going to Disneyland in Orlando.

I noticed the name Austin Murphy on the IPT list of 150 selected members. Does anybody know if this is the same Austin Murphy who won the 2005 BCA Junior Nationals (14 & Under Boys divison) at age 11 this past June, and then at age 12 took 13th place at the 2005 World Youth Championships (18 & Under Boys) in September? If it is it seems to add to the argument that Kevin Trudeau is looking for broad diversity within his chosen group of IPT members.

Congrats to all those selected.

I think there will always be people that appear to be left out of any list. All you can do is take the oppportunity and run with it.

What are the requirements for the 150 members? Did they sign away anything?
Curious as to the format, structure and dress code? KT seems like a very good marketer so I think he will find ways to make this a viable product.
Have there been any TV rights sold yet or will the events be available
PPVor on DVD?
