I break with my playing cue. I have never owned a break stick. I recently had a chance to try the Mezz powerbreak 2 and it was nice. Exploded the racks with it. I was sending the cue off the table though.
My avatar is me breaking with my Joss/OB1 shaft. It gets pretty bendy. I think on my follow through it sits on the table bed for a second. I have noticed it gets bendy like that on power draw shots as well.
My thoughts on this are that if you have a quality cue, it was built well enough to be used to break. The biggest downside I see is the leather on the tip gets compressed faster. Just keep it roughed up and you should be good.
