Of course most of the pro's break from the side, but when they are hitting the one ball are you soppose to be hitting it straight on, like your breaking straight infront of the one and hitting the one ball solid? or are you soppose to aim for the side of the one ball? please comment back and let me know, thanks!

Depends on preference. But it suppose to hit the one solid, because you want to stop the CB after hitting the 1-ball. A solid hit will do that. On the other side, there are theories where you must hit the 1-ball almost solid to consistent pot the 1-ball in the side pocket.

Where ever you break from, you want to try to hit the one ball as solid as possible.
When this guy speaks about breaking, you should listen!

Exactly. That way you can hit them hard. I mean, really hard.

Not exactly, there is a trend going on, not to the hit it to hard. A decend break will do it for the pros, and a decend break is a controlled break, not a hard powerfull break.

Why not trying hit the 1-ball half or a quart solid, and you will see it's a crappy break =P

Thanks for all your comments back!! Will do me some good :) I been everywhere in dallas!! Usaully always getting top 3 in tournaments :) and im leaving tomorrow for minnisota for Jr.Nationals!

Actually there is more than one place to hit the lead ball in the break shot. Joe Tucker has proved that. The trick is to hit the spot you are aiming at...

there are some variations

You can also use a cut break.I've seen people from the side rail cross the one,go into the rail and into to middle of the rack on a barbox with some success.but it was not a power break

3 styles of breaks

There are three styles of breaks, IMHO.

1) We all know as the power breaks: Archer, Nevel, Django, ect.; hitting flat square in the face of the one and making all the balls scatter like a 5-0 trying to chaise a swarm of thugs.

2) The medium hit stroke with like slightly hitting left of full (if you're breaking from the left side of the rail) with maybe slight bottom to make the 1-ball to the side pocket. **which what Efren used on the 2002 Inter. Challenge of Champ. **

3) The Ronnie Alcano wingball shot: where Ronnie hit the 1-ball full in the face with tons of draw on a medium-soft through medium stroke making the edge ball go to the upper corner pocket.
