I know there many out there wanting to do cnc inlays. A few years back when trying to line up my first cnc I looked at Align- rite , cue monster and few other choices knowing nothing at all about cnc, just that I wanted to be able to do this. I finally found a company on line making small cnc machines after talking with this fellow and explaining what I wanted he said he could make one of his gantry style machines work. We had many months of talking and back and forth. After 6 months and payment in full for 2 machines nothing...... I then made a surprise visit to him about 7 hours away from here, it was Saturday I parked across the street and waited he finally showed up and opened the shop after a few minutes I just walked across the street and walked in there were about 8 or ten half finished machines there after introducing myself he said here is your machine to make a long story short he was going out of business I told him i was not leaving without my 2 machines he admitted he only had one and didn't have the the parts to finish it. So I took the half finished machine and a written promise to finish the second machine at his home making the second one with a 4th axis to make up for the UN finished first one. After getting the machine home it took months to finish no one knew how or anything about pool cue machines after much time and headaches I made things work learned more and met people to help me . So what I am getting at here is this I dint want anyone going through what I did.

Lee, your new machine looks nice.
Based on a Sherline mill isn't it?
I have a Sherline lathe and am quite happy with the quality and accuracy of their equipment. Its good stuff.

A person would be very wise indeed to take you up on your free training.
There is a very steep learning curve with CNC and it would be money well spent to come to your shop and get some hands on experience.
Personal one on one training is the nuts!

If I can help anyone that can not make it to your place for the training they are welcome to bring the machine here to Corpus Christi and I will be happy to share what CNC knowledge I have to get them up and running.
Wouldn't mind getting some hands on with your machine either ...

Hope it sells well, Lee, and if I wasn't so satisfied with the machine I have now I would be seriously considering yours.

Hopefully mine will be here by the end of the week, although Lee has some things going on outside of work, so if it doesn't make it by Thursday, I'll understand.

Cnc

Ok, I have been wanting a CNC machine for a while now, but I dont have 15k to shell out for an Align_Rite. Nor do I hace 8K for a Cue monster. This machine by Brianna is right up my alley. I know that some people on this form use a very semilar product for this purpose. What do you guys think. I know absolutely nothing about CNC.

I think Lee did a dang good job of putting a reasonably priced CNC machine togather based on the well known Sherline mill AND offering free training for it.
He is gonna be swamped with orders.
Even if Lee gives up the business you will still be able to get parts from Sherline for many years to come.
I think that was a smart move on his part.

Here is a link to a cue maker that put together a Sherwood based CNC mill.

As you can see this setup is able to do some very complex inlays.
Plus you get the free support.

Did I hear you say you're making a taperer too in that video Lee?

I had called Lee about three weeks ago to build a jig to hold a cue on the Taig Mill I had just ordered. He told me he'd match the price (plus the cost of the extended bed and a few other items) and get it set up for me. He said he was designing his new machine off the same mill. He also said they're working on plans to allow it to taper an entire butt or shaft and the machine would be upgradeable.

I canceled my order with the other guy and had Lee do the entire thing. Lee has been a pleasure to work with and has answered all of my questions. I think I have spent more time with him on the phone lately then I spend talking to my wife.

He's also had some personal things going on the past couple of weeks, but he's at work every day, working long hours to get things done. I'm sure I will not be disappointed and if he gives the kind of support to everybody that he's given me, he will certainly sell a lot of these.
