Very impressive player! Where did he come from?
Uhh, mr and mrs deska? Duh?
Just kidding. I believe he is living in dc now. His dad, Ed is also a very good pool player and I believe their family is fro PA.
Did he win something? He does play very well.
That's my boy but he's a horrible poker player though
I was at the Ginky and count me among Brian Deska's new fans. He played some wonderful pool.
The best match of the event may have been the winners bracket semifinal between Deska and last year's Ginky Memorial Champion Mike Dechaine. Both of them played well up to 7-7, but the rack Brian Deska ran on the hill was a thing of great beauty.
Well played, Brian, who ended up second.
Brian has rarely competed in New York and New England. Hoping that's about to change.
Ya know...?Nice guy, Brian became super-strong in the last five years or so. I'm counting on him to someday be the first Mosconi Cup player about whom I can say "I played him way back when he was only a local shortstop, not a world class player."
Even though his dad is a very strong one-pocket player, he didn't play that game much until more recent years. Back when he was just a great local 9-ball player, around 2005-2006, I used to cajole him into a one pocket game now and then. How times change.

Ya know...?
About 5yr ago, max Eberle beat him an ahead-set for for figures pretty quickly. Iirc, is was to 8.
Coincidence? Hmmm...almost interesting.
If anyone knows where I can get a video of his match with Dechaine, I'd appreciate it. I didn't get to see the match.
Get in touch with Upstate Al. He mentioned at some point recording the matches and making them available.

Very impressive player! Where did he come from?
Brian's originally from Philly. Now he's the house pro at First Break in Sterling, Va.
His dad is very strong in straight pool and one-hole.
Brian, according to what he told me at Steinway, is basically concentrating on 9-Ball and 10-Ball.
He's soft-spoken, conducts himself very well on and off the table.
Brian's comeback from being down 6 to 3 against Dechaine was beautiful.
Dechaine was so upset by that loss that he quickly folded in his next match and was out of the tournament and left Steinway immediately.
If he's play Dechaine at Steinway, maybe we'll see a Deska cameo on The Hustlers?
