Brianna Jump Break Cue Review

Well my plan was to have many people review the Brianna JB but in its first day of testing the tip popped off after perhaps 15 breaks or so and was never to be found again.I and another player reviewed it and this is what we thought about it.The finish looked nice along with the cues woods. The balance was very nice and felt good in my hands.I did not like the linen wrap, the cue would go up a notch if it had leather or no wrap at all.I thought the joint pins were wrong for this cue,a G10 pin would have been better at the shaft joint and jump joint should have been a quick release,it took awhile to take apart.I felt that when I put the cue together it just did not feel solid as far as fit was concerned, the joint felt cheap.

Now to performance, the cue did break good, felt solid but the linen wrap felt crappy and rough. As far as jumping was concerned it jumped very easily over the balls, even with the cue ball being less then 5 inches from a full ball it made it over it.On a scale of 1-10 I would rate it a 6.5,if the joints were changed and it had a leather wrap/no wrap I would give it an 8.This is my honest review of the cue and I was going to raffle it off to raise funds or sell it but after the tip incident and the feel of the joints I am hesitant to do it because I dont want it to fall apart or disappoint someone as it has not been really time tested or proven.

I do thank the winner of the cue CUSTMQS for donating it to OTR and perhaps we will find it a home after it is retipped and gets alot more hours on it so we know it can hold up.

If it broke the balls well and jumped easy, That's the important part of the review. A tip can fall off on anyone. It happens. What is the joint screw and what is the jump screw? Leather can be a nice touch but it's not for everyone.

The joint screw appears to be 5/16-18 Mike.I agree about the tip part but if I purchased a cue like this and it flew off never to be found again I would be not too happy and would have to ship it back to have it retipped or buy a new tip and have it put on,plus I believe it was a specialty tip, dont want to replace it with something that would change the play of it.As I said I gave it an honest review and it did break and jump well, the issue with the joint pins and the wrap was my biggest thing, wrapless, better linen or leather would be an improvement. The finish and wood in the cue look nice.

Your right, Thank you.
5/16X18, I didn't think anyone was still using that screw besides Viking. The good part on the jump section screw is, if you have someone close to you that repairs cues, You can turn the front of the screw down like Viking did and make it a little quicker to take apart. Just a thought.

Thanks Mike for the suggestion, what would you suggest tip wise to put on it?

I would ask Brianna to send a couple of tips, especially seeing they work. Maybe he'll tell you what he's using.

Might be an idea,I looked on Ebay and see he sells them on there and it did not say if they were just a standard phenolic or not.

A lot of people are using that white diamond tip, Some have had problems and some have not, I happen to be one of the ones that they just didn't stay on for so I stopped using it.

Lee,I think the white diamond tips are a good choice to be honest as it broke and jumped very well, the performance was very high IMO.I would modify the joint pins and perhaps go with a black linen wrap that is better quality.I think the finish, wood, and performance were very good.

thanks for the review lenny. as for quailty most first runs are prob never as good as later runs. look at anything electronic ect. i remember wedging an extra game on top for the playing game in my nintendo. and having to turn my ps1 upside down just to play games. ps2 just stopped reading discs. i can go on forever

anyone that knows lee well knows he is a great guy. he will go out of his way to me others happy. he send me free stuff in the mail. he says pay me later or something along them lines all the time. lets face it none of us are perfect we all make odd choices in life. learning from them mistakes are the key.

good luck lee. i for one am interested in the b/j. cant wait to see one up close
