Anyone know how to set up for cutting bridge at the rear of points.
Tim Struggs was the first one I saw to make these but now I see a few more. but not everyone is doing a 45 some are stacking the veneers.

Simple Bridges

I just put on the Veneer on the face before I splice that color Veneer into the body. That's a simple way.

so your saying you lay each veneer in one at a time and then and another face. I glue all my veneers up and then cut to a 45. ? so how would that work. must be missing a step.

Before you cut your points, you need to stack veneers similar to the male jp in the pic above. After you stack the veneers then you cut your pocket for your points

That's not what I'm seeing. I'm still scratching my head, but not losing any sleep. I'm sure that like anything else, once you understand it, it's simple. But stacking the veneers on the end, then cutting in points will destroy part of the uppermost end veneer.

ok so stack the bottom veneers on then cut thru to get v-grove but the others will have to be put in one at a time to line up with the back. I can see that but that makes your veneers butt up to each other. the way struggs and some others do it they have a 45 at the back.and it looks much nicer. not sure how they are getting the 45 at the rear.

You can do it with a recut point

Stack the first veneer rings, then cut the first point, glue then face off and add more veneer rings then recut and add the inner point. A lot of labor but it will work. And it does look great.

see these are cut at a 45 at the rear. thats what i am trying to do.
any ideas thanks

There is probably more than one way to do this but........................
If you will notice, most builders do this when the veneers are surrounded by ebony or a very dark back ground. The reason being the base of the boxed points are done as an inlay. A cnc or pantograph would most certainly help.

<~~~some of the best I've ever seen are some of Ron Haley's cues.....

ok I DID THINK OF THAT BUT I JUST FIGURED IT WAS CUT BEFORE THE VENEERS WERE SET IN THE POINTS. THANKS FOR THE HELP
