I don't normally post pictures of unfinished cues but the close ups came out so nice I thought I would share. Enjoy.

I'm currently final turning the cue. Perhaps I will post an update later today with the boxes in the cue.

Come on! I need more pics. Geez, you've had another 24 hours...isn't it DONE YET! :)

This might be a dumb question but does everyone number the inlays like that? How much variance is there between inlay sizes? I would guess there is enough to require numbering...

Sorry for hijacking the thread for that question, I'm just curious.

It is a stunning cue - can't wait to see the finished pictures.

We don't number most inlays. Most inlays are a single part and come out of the machine at an EXACT size. These boxes are 5 parts glued together. They come out slightly different sizes. Like maybe .005-.010" difference.

It isn't much but in our job everything has to be nuts. I actually number each box. Then I make the centers exactly for each specific box and number them. I do the pockets the same way and number them.

If you look at the cue, you can see a "1" at the bottom of one of those pockets. Box 1 with center 1 goes in pocket 1 and so on. It just makes for a perfect fit.

Maybe it is a bit anal but that is how I do it. Very astute observation! You've got good eyes on you :)

The forearm looks like a blow torch!

I like the color. I like the box veneer. i think this will turn out to be a very nice cue unless maybe if you put a pink wrap on it.

More pics soon please.

I was actually thinking chartreuse, or was it black leather. I believe Matt will have some pics up after the joint is on and the windows in.
