Broke my high run

Broke my high run today, unfortunately I don't know exactly how many balls I pocketed. My high run was 16 before today, and I'm thinking this one was about 18-20. However, we weren't keeping score so I wasn't counting the whole time. I know there were about 10 balls on the table when I started, I made those, broke, and when I stopped there were 5-7 of the next rack on the table.. :o

So I'm happy but somewhat pissed that I wasn't counting! I've learned my lesson on that! So I'm just going to call my high run 17 now...

At least it was fun though, I don't get the chance to play against people very often. Dave if you're reading this - it was good playing with you.

See ya,
Zach

Good for you. You will hit that 25 soon I predict.

I had a run of 10 today.

Actually, I had a run of 13, but that was in practice on my home table. The 10 was with a friend in the pool room.

Hey, nice going Zach! The cool thing about playing and practicing Straight Pool, is that you can always see when you are improving. The better you get, the longer your runs will be. Once you get into that third rack, that's when you know you can run a lot of balls. Pretty soon you'll be running in the 20's, then it will be the 30's and then it is a big jump to run 40's and 50's.

When you can produce runs this high on a regular basis, you will be a damn good player. Keep practicing and good luck.
P.S. I've been playing pool a long, long time and my high run is 72. I've never run a 100 balls, and probably never will. I think you're going to be a better player than me. :D

Thanks Jay! I'm hoping to run 50 before I turn 30, and I have about a year and a half to do it. I just started seriously shooting pool about 7 months ago - but soon I'll have my own table in my basement (bought a 9' GC III), so hopefully the extra playing time will bump up my skill so that I can reach that 50. Right now I can only practice about 4 hours a week :( I really need to practice going into clusters and forseeing what the outcome will be...

Thanks again for the kind words!!

Didn't set a new high but yesterday I had the best run that I have had in a long time. 9 ft. Brunswick. I ran 10 and then made a great steep angle side of the rack break and ran the table for 24. I lacked about a quarter of an inch to be able to get at the break shot for the third rack. Maybe today.

Well done, Dave.

Keep it going.

(I could only manage 15 last night in league, however I was fortunate enough to have won both matches; I would have preferred some higher runs to the wins, though.)

It's neat you brought this thread back up Dave.. I held the "All Around World Pool Championship" in my basement last Tuesday ( :D ) It was me, my dad, and my father in law.

In the week leading up to that I started to run 10-13 regularly.. The day before the tournament I ran a 23 across three racks! So that's my high now - a 23.

The tourny was three rounds, #1 was 8 ball, #2 was 14.1, and #3 was 10 ball. Luckily I won the straight pool round and the 10 ball round - so I am now officially the "All Around World Pool Championship" title holder ;)

We went to 50 in 14.1 - My high runs were 20, 14, and 13. I ended up at 53 (since I didn't want to stop before I missed) and the other two players had 14 and 4.

Edit: I am now starting to realize just how high a run of 50 is - I think it's going to be an uphill battle to run that before I turn 30!

Indeed it is. I also have a goal to run 50 before the end of this year (it originally was until I turned 30, but that came and passed this month already).

Closest I've came is a 38, although I did shoot a 28 last week. My avg. high run for the past couple months is high teens/low twenties.

good luck and keep up the good work

Congrats to all on the nice shooting. There are few feelings in pool as great as that of breaking a personal high run!
