broke my table

Table pics

Take pics of the break and post them in the talk to a mechanic section. You can also do a search for broken slate repair in the same forum. If you don't want to tackle it your self you should be able to find a qualified mechanic in your area recommend by the ones in the forum. Good luck!

The local Elks Lodge janitor took an old (1950s) Brunswick table down (without consulting the regular players) and busted the center slate by letting it topple over.

Some chips broke out along the diagonal crack. One of the lodge members bought the table for $200. When he set it up, he added some 1/2" slats across the bottom wood to give horizontal stability, and mounted it on the frame. He then used a machinist level to level the two pieces to each other, then leveled to the other two pieces. Only when everything was perfectly aligned did he fill in the gaps with bondo.

He said, when the table is taken down next time, the whole process will have to be repeated.

We moved 2 years ago and my daughter took up notes on the old house that I had a building in the back with my table. It took me 2 years to be able to get a new building at my new house. I had several people on the way to help so I was getting the slate ready to move when it fell over. then I cried like a little baby.

sorry to hear about your slate:frown::frown:, it might be fixable, if not im sure someone here can help you out for lots less $$$ than you mite think and get you whole again.

Maybe some help

There are a couple of people on AZ that may be near enough to advise or even help. One is Gary Medlin, winners07 here on az, and Shane, Cuephoric also here. Gary has recently finished a gold crown for a local guy near Lake Charles. He has two other 8 ft. GC's he's working on. Maybe he could advise since your avi shows you are in La.

Shane is out of Dallas area, and he knows just about every answer to any question about tables. He does mechanic work in La. also. Try and contact him too.

IMHO that slate is busted way beyond repair.

broken slate

Hi Eddie
8 or 9 ft? How thick is the slate and the slate frame taken separately and together? I am in Ohio but I have several odd pieces. Shipping may not be too bad. My Email brkem9@aol.com
