Why, Ob would take care of it if it is not abuse, I mean your not dealing with Predator!!! Now the warranty on the shaft is void, sounds like a lose lose situation to me.

i agree with manwon because not only did u void the waranty but u could posably have changed the way it played all though it was a verry creative way to fix a problem i think u loose in the end but thats just my two cents

( poster is not resonsable for any miss spelled words in this post )

I would think that ebony would add too much weight to the front end thus eliminating any of the characteristics that and OB shaft is supposed to be well known for?

That will certainly work, but I would have just suggested that he buy an OB Break shaft for his monster break. The Break shaft, available in all the joints we make, is made for the monster breakers and is still low squirt. Your modification, while it most likely will hold up just fine, will also defeat the LD or low cue ball squirt properties of the cue shaft.

It looks like a nice job though!

The OB break shaft does a great job. I'm using one w/ my X-Breaker butt, and Royce should have an OB break cue butt out to me very shortly.

ebony might've been the worst choice possible for this job as it is the heaviest wood used in pool cues... the whole point of a LD shaft is very light weight near the tip, that's why they use a wood ferrule like they do. Creative thinking, it looks nice.. but could've maybe used some more thought. Let us know how it hits.

I agree with the above , nice execution . . .poor solution.

Honestly , before I would have gone thru all that , I would have just turned off the old ferrule and installed another.
