Hey guys,
I have a jacoby with an ob 2 and i broke my wooden ferrule. I AM NOT putting another wooden ferrule on. But I like the shaft and want to get a new ferrule. I am asking opinions on ferrule's. what should i replace it with. I usually shoot with a kamui medium or a triangle med. thanks guys...

Why not wood? Aka , let OB replace it most likely under warranty if it was defective.

the ferrule broke because the carbon fiber pad under the tip was taken off when the tip was changed.

if you replace it with something besides wood, you'll increase the deflection of the shaft

I don't know if it will change the hit characteristics of the shaft or not.
I did notice on the OB site that some of the new shafts have a different ferrule material.
To give you an example. Take Predator shafts. The ferrule material and size are there for a reason.
Changing it out for something else in size will take away from the hit.

You might want to get a hold of Royce and ask him directly as he posts on here in the Cue Maker forum.

Other than that, it depends on the type of hit you like. You can get either a soft, medium or a hard material.

There is Titan if you like soft. Many of the cue makers like using this.
LBM, which is a linen based melamine and usually a medium hard.
Then you can get Aegis and Ivorines if you like a harder hit.

If you want to read about the different ferrule materials available to give you an idea of what you might like, Google
Atlas Billiard and Prather Cue. They both have a ton more material than the three that I mentioned.
OK, I lied, not a ton but lots.

Either way, it would still be best to speak with Royce and ask his opinion.

Might I ask you why you don't want to put another OB wood ferrule on.
They are very cheap to buy right from OB.
