Brunswick Gold Crown I

How much would you pay for a Brunswick GC1 in good condition? Original owner purchased around 1970. He passed away and the step daughter is selling. What would be a fair price in this market?? Table is already taken apart and I will be picking it up and having it refinshed at my own expense.

It doesn't look like it needs refinishing.
I got a feeling there aren't too many staple marks on the bottom of
the rails.
Don't let this one get away.

You can always put a low down payment.....
...tell her you'll pay the balance on December 22.

GC1 with plastic skirts intact.... No need to refinish from the pics... Few staples from minimal recovery..... Tangerine and white..... I'd be a sucker for 2k easy and not lose a bit of sleep.... New cloth and rubber plus setup is going to add 700 minimum tho... I'd feel like a real winner to have that table setup and rerailed/rerubbered for 2500 so 1800 or less would likely be my happy place... OHHH and it's a ball return table!!!!

I've seen of pool hall GC1 go for $500. That said I would think $1500 would be a fair price. I paid $2500 for a 3 year old GC4 with the Brunswick light included.

I agree with 2K being the ceiling. 2k is what I would expect in a good economy. Hopefully you can pick it up for much less.

If it helps I happened to be off work and was searching Craig's list for a gc as i did everyday. The guy just listed it minutes before i called. i went with car to check it out. turned out to be a gc 2, looked like new. His pitchers did it no Justus. I'm 30 miles south of Chicago he was near Indiana. i said ill take it and be back tomorrow with a truck. he took 800. next day he laughed and said i should have asked more because the phone was ringing off hook for it. guess i was lucky

A very nice GC1 was on CL for $2500 and had been for a while. After a back-and-forth, the price came to $1250... it was in similar condition to the one you're looking at. Had I not found a GC3 for $1000 5 minutes away (instead of 3 hours) I would've bought at that price. Start low... you have realistic costs associated with moving and setting up the table that can factor into the deal, not to mention that it's a big heavy thing that she wants gone.

I got mine for $1500 which included an excellent pool light, two sets of balls, and a rack. Since then I've seen them go for $1000 and $1200. Also, I like them set up and in use so I can try them out.

The main issue is the shape... Most of the $1000 GCs are IIIs and have been in rooms which means Glen or someone is gonna get their pound of flesh.... Original condition GC1 like this is not going to show up on his searches for maybe a year or 2 if ever... By most account the GC1 is the first choice of GCs so no comparing IIs and IIIs

I just bought a 1939 Moderne for $1000.... I doubt I see another one in my area for years.... I have not seen a GC1 in this shape in 5 years in my area on CL or EBay

edit.. Did I mention it has a ball return???

I'm in love with this table, its only 2 hours away.

I bet its in pristine condition too! She is trying to throw in balls, cues, light, ping pong table for around 2k.

table

I own a gc1 and love it and if you diamonize it you will never let it go... offer 1500 to 1750 good luck

I'm around a bunch of GC1's almost every day...they came from a room
in Louisville about 20 years ago. They were made in the 60's and six have
still got original rubber. They get played on a lot so the rails still hit good.

So if the rails on this table are a little slow, give them a chance.
Home tables often don't get played enough to keep the rubber live....
...playing brings them back to life.

Another trick is to take a rubber mallet and walk around the table for a
few days tapping the point of the rails....works good for reclothing too.

If it is super clean like it appears in the pics, I would offer her $1200.00 to start off. From there I would pay up to $1800.00 for everything.

Looks super nice!!!

Go get'er done son :)

What if the cues turn out to be Hoppes, Rambos, and Palmers....?
..you get the table for nothing.

Don't over-bargain and lose this.

BUY THIS TABLE! You will be hard pressed to find a better pool table at any price. Bargain yes, but don't let it slip through your fingers. There may be gold in that cue rack too! In the long run owning this table will make you a happy man. What's that worth?

One small piece of advice. When you put it back together, leave the plastic skirts off. They serve no functional purpose other than to cover up the underside of the table, which you'll never notice anyway. They are a big hassle anyway to get on right.

As people are saying, don't snooze! I missed a pristine 5x10 Anniversary snooker table with accessories (rack, cues, etc.) by one day. It sold for $800. OOPS.
kv

might even come with the original brunswick cue rack! I agree, when I get there I will look over the cues.

I feel that I have already made a deal with her and she won't sell it on me.

going down to pick it up on Saturday if not sooner.

and I haven't even told you guys the best part yet!
