Brunswick Gold Crown I

I was lucky to have found my GC1 which was being stored for years for a guy who hoped to eventually get a house where he could set it up.

The table was his dads and the story was that it was in a commercial room for a very brief time then to the dad's house for the rest of its time until dad passed away.

The son finally came to terms with the unlikelyhood of his getting a proper place to set it up so he gave word to the billiard outfit who was storing it to sell it. I saw the ad and hopped on it.

I negotiated over the phone based on the description ending up at $1800 loaded on my van. When I got there I was delighted to find that there was also a matching cue rack and BBC wooden triangle. Everything was in terrific condition and I couldn't have been more happy with getting this table.

Recently I was lucky to have RKC cobrasize her and holy crap, I'm the happiest camper.

If it's really nice and comes with some accessories, anything below $1500 is stealing. Anything around $2000 is an excellent deal.

These, as you already know, are high quality, lifetime tables.

GL and please keep us posted on your deal.

Best,
Brian kc

I bought a very nice GC1 below for $1500 with no accessories. Balls cost money, but most of the house cues you get in the deal are junk. These tables play great, but IMO, $2k is too high.

Negociate on it like you would anything else, telling the seller that you can get a much newer one for only $500 more, it's going to cost you hundreds to move and set up and recover, etc. In the end, you will probably be very happy with your purchase for many years to come. Good luck. :)

One small piece of advice. When you put it back together, leave the plastic skirts off. They serve no functional purpose other than to cover up the underside of the table, which you'll never notice anyway. They are a big hassle anyway to get on right.

For what it's worth, I personally like the plastic skirts.

might even come with the original brunswick cue rack! I agree, when I get there I will look over the cues.

I feel that I have already made a deal with her and she won't sell it on me.

going down to pick it up on Saturday if not sooner.

and I haven't even told you guys the best part yet!

I feel everyone who encouraged you to buy this table should get to play
a game on it....make mine 10-ball, but NOT call shots.

..and your last line...you haven't told us the best part yet?
..is this a variation of the old "How do you keep a moron in suspense?
..answer..."I'll tell you tomorrow."

I'm in love with this table, its only 2 hours away.

I bet its in pristine condition too! She is trying to throw in balls, cues, light, ping pong table for around 2k.

That said, to me, it is a flat out steal. Why?

-GC I and II are great tables, with the pinned slates

-This one is in pristine condition, not beat up from years of poolhall/commercial use. I'll bet this one is in near new condition, which is nearly impossible to find

-a pristine GC I or II is easily worth (EASILY) 2k by itself

-this table was prolly recovered less than 3 times, If I had to bet. The rails and hardwood frame will have next to no staple/recover damage.

-you cannot find another table of this quality, in this condition, for 2k, today

Eric >don't be stupid over a few hundred dollars

BUY IT! you wont be sorry even if you overpay for it, I had a pos table and found this on craiglist for $300.00, it also came with a double sided floor standing Brunswick cue rack and a Willie Hoppe cue and many one piece Brunswick cues and centenials, I could not be happier with it. Its been privatley owned its whole life and looks like only refelted once by staple holes. Felt is very nice yet but cushions are a little slow. In the next month or 2 rails are going to Mark Gregory at Perfect Pockets for artemis cushsion and rail calibration then having new simonis 860hr cloth, just not sure which color yet. I like the traditional green but in some of my pictures it looks blue and that looks kind of nice too. All I need is to find some pool players in my area to come shoot on it with me.

I will definitely negotiate on the price when I see the table in person.

I'm buying a new house that has a finished 20X20 shed/mantown with lights, bathroom, half finished bar w/ fridge, and a loft.

And this table will be the centerpiece!

I really think the world is going to end this year... because all my dreams are coming true! I did just cross the superbowl off the bucket list??

$1000-$1200 if it needs no work. if it needs work dock offer accordingly. i am picking up 3 for $1000, but one has a broken slate. nice looking table BTW. also all three are drop pocket tables. not sure what the ball return adds to the value.

best,

Justin

As a matter of fact I did. I don't hate it, but a table without skirts looks naked to me. :D

No skirts is fine with me if it's a good looking table...:lovies:

But I've seen some Gandys that should not only have long skirts...
..but a burka as well..

I paid $1000 for my 1963 GCI with drop pockets. Amazing condition. I love the skirts. Had to keep them because you can see the pockets if you leave them off. Maybe it's different with ball return?
Don't Diamondize it! Would you Predatorize your Balabushka? LOL

Don't be a piker. It's well worth the 2k if the table looks to be in excellent condition plus there might be a really good cue in the batch. She's probably going thru a rough patch after losing her Dad.
