The Medalist only came with the GC style of legs, are you sure this table isn't a Brunswick Century??? Or Medalist rails on a Century frame? I'm kind of bothered by this..as you want me to move and set up the table.

plshrk22 said:Well it has a Badge on it that says BRUNSWICK MEDALIST. The other end has the Ball holder. The top is definetly a Medalist. It does appear that the legs have been modified. What kind of support does the medalist have underneath the table? I was looking at the GC's at our pool hall and WOW they look nothing alike underneath. You can see the slate on the Medalist and it appears that on the GC the you cannot see the slate. The Table was setup by professionals he claims and he seems like an honest guy. The slate is about 1.5 Inch and also there is no Partical board that goes underneath the slate. Is this normal? The slate has what looks like 1" x 1" boards glued to it. I am trying to describe what I saw as well as I can. There were also what looked like a deck of cards that shimmed the slate. I will add features if I remember any later.
Bring your tape measure too, as Brunswick GC's and Medalist didn't use slate 1 1/2" thick. The Medalist has a 1" thick slate, and you can see the slate under a GC, look under the center of the table. I don't care WHO set this table up, somethings wrong with this picture.plshrk22 said:Well it has a Badge on it that says BRUNSWICK MEDALIST. The other end has the Ball holder. PS. Do you know how many billiards technicians call themselves professionals?...LOL
Well, the cushions are wrong as well then. They may not even be K55 profile. That GC4 in Spokane, WA for $1,500 is looking better by ever post to this thread...LOLplshrk22 said:Well maybe it was 1" as I used my finger tape measure. He is out of town until next week. The legs do not match the skirts identically. I think it is still a nice solid table as it played very well. The rails are not Super Speeds but they will do until I have the money to replace them. It has the just crome corners on the pockets, no Brunswick on them. The legs go up and bolt directly to the "Frame" of the table.

No...that's a fact. I'm now concerned about the price I quoted you for setting that table up. If it's a bastard table...then I'm going to have to reconsider my offer...sorrymagnetardo said:If you didn't buy it already I would definitely take a pass on this table, for one thing, you are paying almost as much as you could get a used gold crown for. Second, a medalist is nowhere near the table of a GC and the one you are looking at appears to have the structure severely weakened.
There is a big ass difference between 4 post legs and 2 panel legs with a stringer between them. Just my opinion of course.
plshrk22 said:I already told the guy I would take it for $900...I am going to feel real bad telling him that I dont want it anymore.
Look, this is why all of us billiards technicians talk back and forth here on AZ, and why we try and help those that don't know what's going on. It's better to keep you from getting the short end of a deal, than it is to come to your house...and tell you...you got screwed! I don't like bastard tables, or throw away tables, the only purpose for these tables...is for someone to make some money off some unsuspecting sucker. Take the table if it bothers you that you told someone you'd buy it, but keep in mind...it's NOT the table you were led to believe it was!magnetardo said:How bad are you going to feel when you try to sell it and can't get half what you paid for it?
