Brunswick's Evolution

Also, does anyone know of a source for replacement labels for restorations? I think I remember the Stellinga's mentioned they replaced some labels in their restorations.

Chris

Chris , Check out this link, looks like this guy might have what your looking for;
Thanks for all the great info on these cues. David

what about the propeller ones? ..... made in france.

I saw one, it went cheap, and I'm kicking myself in the butt for not buying it! It had that wierd billiard taper on the handle.

Gold Lettering "Willie Hoppe Titlist"

Does anyone have any information on when they made the Gold Lettering "Willie Hoppe Titlist" that is stamped on the butt? This one doesn't have the burnt Willie Hoppe signature in the forearm either. (does have the weight stamp so I do not believe the Hoppe signature has been removed)

Thanks,
Darron

I just re-read this entire thread and enjoyed just as much all over again!

Thanks to all who contributed.

Thanks for bringing this back; I read it for awhile before I realized how old it was!

I am curious about this too. Maybe some on here knows for sure but from what I gathered these were made by Adam cue overseas in the 70s perhaps.

Old thread, but I am just doing my semi-annual AZ visit :)

The evidence points to your conclusion - if I remember correctly, the ones just prior to the one you mention had the numbers stamped at the end of the butt and shaft, and those were made in Japan. Makes sense that anything following them were also made in Japan.

Some of the points in the Japanese cues were beautiful;however, my expertise is limited to the blue label Brunswick cues. Some would say that my expertise is even more limited than that.

Brunswick French 'propellor' logo cue.

Just checking out this old thread and realized that I had never posted photos of the rebuilt cue. I refinished it this morning, as the old finish was done using a method that I'm not all that crazy about, but it's what I knew at the time.

The original shaft is shown at top. The shaft had broken at some point and had very old rusty pins holding the wooden pin in, so I ripped it apart and sent Dave the original wooden pin, which he was able to use to make a new shaft. I played a couple of games with it today and it is an excellent playing cue, as is any cue that Dave touches! I've been playing with a Barenbrugge cue for around eight years now, and won't touch anything else for more than a game or two.
