Brutal kick/skid in snooker

Yep, same shot....only this time...shot so hard the black ball traveled more than 12 feet around the table because of rattling out of the pocket. What you don't seem to understand is WHY it happens more playing snooker than playing pool...and that is because the snooker balls are quite a bit lighter than pool balls....so it takes far less effort to jump a snooker cue ball than for example....a 2 1/4" red circle cue ball on Simonis 860 cloth.

I live in a country where I'm never more than half an hour away from a Rileys pool and snooker club, with proper full size snooker tables as well as American pool tables. Also a country that has enough snooker on TV that I can tell when a ball kicks and when a player miscues!

You're saying that everyone in snooker is wrong. That the best player IN THE WORLD is jumping the ball and just doesn't realise it. You're saying that you know more about how snooker balls react on snooker tables than the people who play for a living, for hours every day. Why did the ball miss to the left of the pocket? He was using reverse side. Low right. The increased friction on contact lifts the object ball, and the right spin throws it to the left. When balls kick on a slow roll cut shot and miss, they miss thick. This is the increased friction dragging the ball. It's the same idea in that clip. Again, look where the cue ball finishes. The kick takes the pace out of the white. I can play a screw shot and have both balls jump, but still get the reaction out of the cue ball. You haven't answered this point, and you can't. That is because you are wrong.

You've been shown different videos - the slow-motion one from Dr. Dave, and the one I wasted time uploading only for you to say some imperceptible jump is occuring before contact which for some reason also throws the object ball off line as well as killing backspin. I can't say anything more, and it's a new policy of mine not to argue with dogmatic believers in anything. I'm off to do something more productive, like banging my head against a wall or counting how many grains of salt there are in a shaker.

I'll give Ronnie your contact details so you can tell him how to correct his faulty cueing...

Given enough time, I think you'll figure it out sooner or later. When shooting draw/reverse english on a cue ball, the stroke is of a downward angle stroke...toward the bottom of the cue ball...below the center...AND when that stroke takes place...the cue ball is driven at a downward angle into the cloth...just slightly....depending on the speed of the stroke and the amount of the downward angle of the cue upon follow through...the cue ball is pushed down into the cloth as it starts it's forward momentum....but because of that downward angle stroke...the cue ball "banks" so to speak off the cloth at a slightly upward angle which is what causes the jump of the cue ball.

Now, I know it's hard for you to understand...being hell bent on being right and all....so here's a little test you can do to prove my point.

ON...a snooker table...place the cue ball about 18" from a red ball....pointing straight into a corner pocket...and on this shot...you have to try and draw the cue ball back to where it started from....OK...GOT IT?

Now, lay a strand of hard spaghetti noodle across the path of the cue ball and object ball....about 6" from the cue ball. Go ahead and make the shot....if the cue ball is shot with enough effort to bring it back to where it was....it will JUMP over the spaghetti noodle....end of subject!
