bugs rucker

is your copy all choppy after 40 minutes or was that from the uploading to utube
or is it only my computer?

more than half of it is froze every 2 minuets

I'll take a look at it over the weekend. I have not looked at this in years and I know it was not too great to begin with. I have several copies floating around and may even still have the vhs. I'll see if I can get a better copy up there.

I just found one at my office that says "MASTER". Hopefully, it does not skip. I'll check it out today or tomorrow and if it is better, upload a new one.

i just checked the "MASTER". No skipping. I need to convert and upload and make sure it does not degrade in the process. Stay tuned.

This version cuts out at 40 minutes. I am uploading another version that does not cut out and it will be up around 10:00 p.m Central time September 11, 2015 at https://youtu.be/BAlRHRJidaM

'One tip low, one tip left'....man he hit em good.

I saw Bugs play some one pocket very late one night in Philly. Bugs was past his prime but he still controlled whitey very well.

I remember that he used a conventional closed bridge a lot of times even when he was shooting off the rail. Not many players do that. He was incredible off the rail. He stance was low and wide, with his head slightly tilted to the side, not straight down like Jersey Red and Jayson Shaw.

Bugs was a big man, about the size of Jersey Red and Scott Frost, all left-handers. Bugs was using a house cue and then Country let him use his two-piece cue. Bugs caught a stroke and won the set. I don't know the name of the guy he beat. But the guy quit and said he would return with more cash for a bigger set.

I waited for several hours and finally gave up and drove back to Jersey.
Later, I found out that the guy came back but wanted 9-7, so that next set never happened.

When I was 16 I used to work the counter at a pool hall in the south suburbs of Chicago. The owner used to stake Bugs sometimes and they were good friends. He used to come in and hit them around. I've never seen anyone take any random stick and fire the balls in like he did. He was a pretty big man and had a huge wingspan. Truly one of the best all around players that I have seen. As much as I loved watching him, I hated cleaning up after him. Lol. He was brutal on the equipment. He always kept the chalk in his hand while he played. Blue chalk everywhere. Powder everywhere. I would love to see him play again.

Question to John Brumback/Banks players...

Maybe a stretch here....

With all that chalk and powder in play...(take note of Bugs' shirt in video) could that help in turning, spinning banks, by adding some 'grab' to the ball collisions?

Also...is it just me, or on some shots does Bugs address the cb with some english, but deliver the stroke elsewhere? ....aim and pivot?

Anyone know Bugs' game well enough to comment?

Thanks to dmgwalsh for the youtube posting...

(A couple years back, The Beard ...RIP... responded to me that Bert Kinister produced the original VHS tapes, back when I inquired of him where to try to send some jelly to Bugs' estate re. my second hand purchase of the tape.)

vinnie...nice post

Man that is stand up and greatly appreciated. If you ever decide to convert to DVD I'll still buy it.

Thanks again. Amazing what AZ'ers do.

Got it now
thanks anuther tun

Mr. Bugs

DMG, thanks much for the new version!

That reverse bank in the side is diabolical... I've only seen one other person do that in a one pocket game, back into the corner... Ronnie. Impossible angle.

"This one's a little tough... gonna two tips left, one tip low... mmmm hmmmm"

Mr. Bugs

"This one made Mr. Billy Cardone throw up!"

"Look out, Buddy Hall!"

"This one retired Mr. Mike Sigel!"

Love it... there's just some pool players that are very funny.

Thanks again, DMG... rep to you sir.

A story of Bugs:
Ed Young called me and said he and Freddy “The Beard” were going to visit Bugs in the hospital.

I met up with them at Freddy’s house, brought my video camera and we went to see him.

While we were there, I pulled out my camera and started filming and got busted out by one of the nurses, who scolded me and told me there was strictly no filming.

We all talked with Bugs and as we were leaving, he blew us a kiss and said, “Keep spinning them balls.” and “I love you”

We no sooner were out the door before I started crying - Freddy told me to “knock it off” because it would send him into a crying jag.

We piled into the car, and Freddy started bawling too.

It wasn’t long after that visit that Bugs passed away.
I believe we were the last of the group to see him alive.
This is a photo of us at Bug’s funeral.
I’m in the back.
