Building a team

Here is a question. Would you rather be the best on your team or the worst? I have never been the worst, but I would rather be the worst. In my league we do not have handicap. So I would rather be the worst so I could learn a little more and our team would be pretty darn good!

If you are on the best team, would you not learn from the folks on your team? I don't think folks from the other teams are going to hang around afterwards and dissect your game and give you pointers. Not saying some won't, but your team mates you give you a lot more info.

I would want to be second-to-worst.

So I could learn more, but not be the butt of all the jokes. ;)

going back a few decades I hated being the worst! Looking back on it now it seemed as if I was constantly worrying about what the others thought. For example if I had ball in hand with 4 balls I feared I was doing it wrong. But I would say being the worst had a major impact on my improvement process! I wouldn't say I had good coaching but it was better than nothing. I put the table time in outa league and became the 2nd from worst and so on.

Answering the question from op, as much as it sucked being the worst,id rather be there at any level of play so I could improve.

I'm more interested playing on a team with friends and people who are enjoyable to hang out with on a night out.

I've been the best on every bar league team I've played on.
I play at a pretty high level.
So the down side is that when you miss or make a dumb mistake with the cue ball you get the "look" from your team mates.
Like I'm never supposed to miss or screw up position.

That, and being the best assures they will come to you for help when they hook themselves terribly and there is no way out. Or, you try to coach them mid game before they screw themselves, and when they don't execute the shot/coach correctly, they think you didn't do them any good. Still, I want to be the best on the team
