Bumperless Custom Cues?

Well, with 'dead' cues (Uni-Loc joints come to mind), you don't know the exact spot you're striking. Yes you can see it with your eyes, but you don't have the response in your hands that says "yep, that was a nice stroke" that many people favor in customs. Bumperless cues enhance all of the resonance because there is no rubber to dull the vibrations, as you mentioned. (Brunswick referred to bumpers as 'noise subduers' - I love that name)

Bumperless cues don't pocket balls for you (I'm first in line to get one of those), but they maximize how much control you have over your game.

As for bumperless cues being more fragile, I really can't agree with that unless you're a careless type person.
My cue looks just as good now as when i got it.
I leave cue abuse to guys like Earl Strickland...

In addition to looking better, bumperless cues make it easier to have a screw-in extenstion.

Now thats a point nobody has mentioned. I hadn't thought about cue extensions for use on big tables. If you have a rubber bumper you need a special bumper setup to allow for use of a cue extension. Bumperless cues don't have a rubber bumper to interfere with using an extension. I guess you could take the weight bolt out and use that hole for your extension? I don't think there's such a thing as a weight bolt with a hole in it to screw in an extension.

love bumperless cues, looks the most but the feel is a bit more crisp imo.
To try it out, just remove the bumper in your cue and "feel" it.

Changing something in the middle of the shot?

QUOTE=ChicagoRJ;4533617]Just curious, how does this "feedback" help you in any way or form. I'm assuming you feel it at contact with the cue ball. and by the time you "feel" anything, the shot is just about over. So, it may affect a little less or more vibration, possibly, who knows, and prolly depends on the woods, joint, shaft and tip....but to say it will affect play. No chance.[/QUOTE]

I don't think the feedback would help you with the shot that you are in the midst of shooting. But, you get feedback from that shot to adjust and zero in your game. It's like going to eat at IHOP, they ask you for your feedback, and maybe send you a coupon for a free pancake. Did it change your dining experience? No, but after a lot of feedback from customers, they will get the information on how to better serve you. That is, if they listen to feedback. What's the old saying...The definition of insanity: "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." -AE

Get a bumperless ONLY because you like the look. It has "0" effect on playability.
